This is truly a great find Bee.....The new bullet holes and the interior skeleton look great!

I'll be watching this thread very closely

Is it possible to eliminate the half moon shaped damage on top of the rear fuselage? Or at least make it smaller? I've never thought it looked very realistic.

That is exactly what I am trying to do.

I would really like to, but I'm trying hard to get my Battle of Britain map all finished before I take any new projects. Smile

Bee Wrote:In the 3DO/Plane folder there are sub folders for each aircraft. You'll find the damage1o/2o tga's there.

Btw, still can't figure out what governs the shape of the actual holes. Modifying skin1o.tga has no effect. :?

Holes are in summer/skin1o.tgb (and in next 3 *tga) file, like alpha chanel

Ranwers, you are a genius. Again!
How on earth did you manage to open a TGB file? Confusedhock:

Nevermind. Found it Smile

Just had to change the Folder Options on my computer to display file extensions. Then change TGB to TGA and back again. Works a treat!

great job guys, now if I can add my 2 cents, I would like to point out one thing: realism!
If u look at wartime pictures of planes with light battle damage u will see not only rounded holes, but also bullet holes with different shapes, since usually the shooting angle would be from behind or front, not only perpendicual to the surface itself. Another point would be to be careful to the materials used on the various parts, like canvas on most control surfaces, wood on some planes and metal on others. I dunno if I made myself clear (I hope so!), but Iagree on the fact that the Bf109 with his big "mouse bites" is SO unrealistic. Another nice feature of some plane models is the actual 3d modeling of detached panels, that adds a good dose of realism IMHO. Anyways, here are some pictures that could be inspiring, if u guys have some more let's post them please, maybe in a specific reference thread.

look at this shrapnel scarring

another forgotten thing on most aircrafts: armoures glass shattering

Last but not least: chicken wings anybody? Big Grin
