Hello,

First post here and let me say that I see a lot of great work being accomplished with IL2. I'm excited again to fly IL2 with new sounds, aircraft, flames, 6-DOF etc. however running into a bit of trouble getting the sim to load. Maybe someone can help out or point me in the right direction.

-IL2 1946 from DVD
-Sound mod 9.3
-Wrapper 1.6
-AC

Over-wrote all files.....Startup screen is new and in Russian but crashes back to desktop at 5%.

Sound set at 44K.

Any help greatly appreciated. What did I miss?

Well,

I think I've tryed just about everything except a clean install from DVD.

I tryed the 409bm version>sound mod>wrapper>AC in just about ever order

SFX mod

Sound to 44K

Open GL/Direct X

Even the download fix

Nothing seems to work. 5% crash back to desktop with every attempt.

Any suggestions?

Hey man,
Just yesterday I decided to get all my MODs in order and so I did a fresh reinstall. For that process I followed vpmedia's thread in the 4.08 mods discussion section. Some of the steps seem reeally counterintuitive but I followed the instructions and they worked well. Now the wrapper thing works like a charm and it really is easier to add/delete mods.
Not sure how you'd go about it from an existing install. I'd say to delete files, filelist and maybe swap the .exe and .dlls from the original for the modded/patched ones.
Good luck with it. It took me a couple of hours but that waas mainly because I originally started from 4.07 then skipped to 4.09 and wondered what the problem was.
The new Spitfire looks excellent.

Not sure what I did wrong to keep running into the 5% CTD issue but here is what I ended up doing and works.

-1946 fresh install from DVD
-Update to 408m
-409 mods
-409bm
-Sound mod 9.3
-AAA-Aircraft
-Shine mod
-Exhaust flames
-Tracker IR 6-DOF


The only thing I did notice is that engine sound while in the cockpit is very very low. You can barely hear it. Regardless, I'm really happy this finally worked. Thanks again to all in the community for the work put into IL2!

sometimes, you can reinstall the soundmod and then the cockpit sounds should be louder :wink:
