Kt_Channel 1.0 map is ready +New info!

I could not wait. I made small Channel map myself. Here is a download link:

It contains only 1 airfield/side some towns and roads.[/img]. Map is based to pacific islands (net8islands). It works with uberdemons mission generator, MM and even DCG if you replace it with original net8islands folder

Finally!
I could not wait for real BOB map, so i made one myself. Its small and its based to default net8islands map. Only 1 airfield/side. Few roads and towns.
The main reason to make this map was to make a BOB campaign in Dcg. Because i dont now anything about bringin new maps to DCG, i had to use some default map. Pacific islands was my best choice. I extracted map_c with maptools and add terrain and edited map_h, retextured and populated it. I tested it with uberdemons mission generator, MM and DCG and it worked fine. Thats why i wanted to share it with you m8s. I made it as new map, but you can either copy/paste everything in my Kt_channel folder to net8islands folder after backing you original net8islands of course. (Just rename your \IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\MAPMODS\maps\net8islands to for excamble ;net8islands ) or you can rename Kt_channel folder to net8islands and you should be fine.
for those who dont want to change anything, i have included few missions.

Installation:
Put Kt_channel Folder in to your Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\MAPMODS\maps folder.
Add these lines to Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\MAPMODS\maps\all.ini (copy/paste):
Kt_channel Kt_channel/load.ini

I have included some missions too. You find them in Kt_channel/ Kt_missions folder. Copy/paste that folder in
IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\missions\single\NN and you should see them in single missions under None nation.

Read the instructions above. I did have some problems with posting in here.
Tweaking Uberdemons mission generator, MM and DCG to work with my map:
1. Go to:Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\MAPMODS\maps\ in your computer and rename net8island folder to ;net8islands.
2. RenameUbisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\MAPMODS\maps\Kt_channel to net8islands and thats about it.
Launch IL2 and open quick mission builder, select plane/s and pacific islands map. Hit fly and if you are in channel everything is alright!
DCG : open DCG and create new Pacific 42 campaign either for RAF or Germany. Go to squadron Editor and change the planes and units to fit BOB . You can edit columms and ships too. There aint not much ground activity, so its mainly dogfighting, escort missions and naval targets like in real BOB!

If you know the basic FMB, you can edit pacific 42 master mission in FMB. You find it in your DCG folder under Data\masters\pacific 42. Copy it to IL2 missions\whatever folder and you can add more ships and buildings to master template. When you done save your mission and close IL2. Go to IL2sturmovik\missions\single and copy pacific 42.mis and paste it to DCG\dat\masters folder
Start to play and have fun while waiting patiently REAL BOB maps!

This is version 0.9. beta.
I need to add some villages/farms and railroads/ roads.
And i also need little help for writing Installation instructions in english, because my english is not that good. Sad

You find my instructions in kapteenis english above in this threat and when you extract Kt_channel zip, there is also a Read me file in Kt_channel folder. Maybe someone can translate it to perfect english.
OK! Back to work. Tonight i am going to make railroads for "Britain". And maybe some villages too.

Can't wait to try this tonight, kapteeni. Thanks. Your explanation about how you did this with the map tools makes we want to try something similar with another small map--but was always too intimidated to even start after reading the map mods threads for the last 6 months.

And your "Kapteeni English" beats the hell out of "Saunders Finnish!" Big Grin

Best thing about this kind of map modding is that you can use mission generators. It has some limitations like you cant change airfield positions and so. Mission making in FMB is fun, but when you fly them you know everything in advance. Randomly generated missions are fast to make and they are always "new". I have included some missions in DL file and those missions are generated with Lowengrins DCG. I edited my master pacific 42 mission in FMB. There are heaps of new objects like harbours and static ships. I found nice tempate in m4Today. I hope you enjoy them!
If you want to start map editing i can give some help. Just ask.
BTW Another nice map to start is desert online

Small update:
I have edited map_f so it can be played with excelent settings too. Also added "grey gliffs of Dover" 8)
1 short railroad/side
2-3 towns
Villages/Farms.
Tested with UDMG, MM, Quick MB and DCG.
Even with loads of planes (about 30) works like charm!
My rig:
AMD 4000+ (2,4G) 2gig+Nvidia 8800 GT
Still little polishing to do!
