...Frankenplanes - are all we have at the moment. You might have noticed nothing not upto scratch ever becomes an offical mod...

As long as its a good job; I couldnt give a flying hoot if its a franken plane or a freshly imported mesh. As long as it is right...

I'm a FULL time RL pilot. A aviation enthusiast in general. I want to see as much put into this game as possible - and we have a huge amount of talent working on these planes. They work bloody hard to get them right. I would love to see the ability to add new meshes, and who knows, anyday now we might see a major breakthru. But untill then, we should just shut up and be happy we can even HAVE new aircraft, and even HAPPIER they're in their OWN slots.

Frankengame I said, I realise we necessarily have frankenplanes atm, based on parts already in game. But even so a frankengame so far is not too hard to avoid, I don't want to replace my Po-2/U2 with a Tiger Moth so I don't have to download that. And sure the opportunity to have that choice is great.

But the point is you get a bit put off if the site ends up with four pages of new aircraft slots and only the determined regulars have any idea which ones are even accurately FM'd. Maybe that'll never happen but I am fairly new here and this site doesn't look all that old too (I've watched a few go downhill quick).

The 410 mod I'm sure won't fall into this category, but of course I was curious about how the FM is being done.

This site has resurrected il2 as far as I'm concerned, which is great and you're right, I am very thankful. But I can go spend a month putting together a totally useless aircraft model, or a completely inaccurate or unrealistic one. So understand I'm not being at all ungrateful for those mods which I already adore, especially the base sound mod...that is awesome. I love mods like the mat manager.

I'm always going to be a far more conservative downloader of mods than most of the regulars, that's all. The only people I know to listen to for what's good and what's going to bug my system (or me) is vpmedia, canon and the like, because I've seen their professionalism elsewhere. Fly-zo looks extremely sensible too.

I've noticed you're pretty flighty however (sic) (it's a joke mate, you're prolly super-chill for all I know)

edit: believe me I'm looking forward to a historical Me-410 in game more than most

I defend the modders and community this site promotes; and if I feel someone is taking a stab, I will defend them. Re how old the site is, I think you'll find members dating back to 2006.... The mods have been out for the last six months (in the mainstream), and a lot of us have been here since then. And you're right, being new you will only just be scraping the tip of the iceburg with what details this site holds... What you wont be aware of is of some of the earlier confrontations that occured here. That is why, you will notice, people jumping in rather quickly to defend certain things.

Nothing here is released without being fully researched and without a hell of alot of work and checking going into them. You will not find shoddy "official" downloads... Regarding looking for those who have been in the mainstream, my advice (and not being rude here) - you need to widen your range... There is talent here from places you wouldnt believe.

Accurate FM's... the new aircraft, with their own slots have been researched to incredible depth, reviewd, checked, tested, reviewed again, and released... This site will maintain the upmost degree of accuracy...

guys .... do not be afraid AAA would turn our precious sim into Franken-something

... i assure you mrJolly and others here are very concerned for keeping mods historically accurate .... there is demand for proof ( data/pics) before any official mod gets even considered for making ....

and dedication for keeping online gaming ( ups ... simming) safe isn't even an issue for discussion anymore

with reserving possibility that i misunderstood some english ( again  ) ,

I find all this a bit odd considering my perfectly honest congratulatory posts immediately previous. And I should have thought any information someone might give about a particular project's historical aero engine series would have shown some interest at least, rather than a dig. I don't think the modder in question would have taken my interest as a dig. I was being genuinely involved, not demanding, obviously.

Feller, if I'm being obnoxious to someone by all means correct me. That isn't the situation. But sure, I'll PM any future correspondance directly to the modder next time, to avoid confusion

Hey man, no worries. As I said, some times people here (such as myself) tend to be over protective Wink and mis-read things. Still though, rest assured these FM's/WM/DM's are meticulously (spelling?) researched and assembled Smile

I mistakenly took what you said before as a dig. My bad dude Smile All good eh Smile

Actually I just read a thread that has exactly what you're talking about...omg I no way wanted to seem like that! Slow's P1091 is wonderfully conceived, I had to hold back from making another long post detailing whatever I've got laying around for the 603U and 628 engines. No way I'd ever tell a modder what he should and shouldn't do, just I dunno, trying to be involved. I love engines, love building them, racing them, love a flight sim and a site of modders bringing us as close as we can get to experiencing what all those wonderful warbirds engines were like, and the performance they gave.

I love 'em all, I love flying Gladiators, Thunderbolts, Spits, Me-109G you name it! Was only super-interested in the FM process, how one is made or mapped or whatever you do with a bunch of numbers to make things happen to the model. I mean if I met the Maddox team I'd be straight in with that question like a flash! Then I'd want to go over the Emil with them, the Thunderbolt, assuading an enthusiasts curiosities and unsuredness (is it a 601A, a 601N I mean which was modelled? I h a v e to know, lol).

Anyways I'll be more careful, I didn't realise there was that sort of impolite attitude around to tell modders what to do and not to do.

Keep up the good work, fellers! Many of us love you to death for it! :!:

vanir Wrote:I very much hate to put a damper on work already done, but couldn't we just lengthen the engine nacelles forward as suggested and leave the fuselage length as per the Ca-210 as was historical?
All it needs is a FM, a few weapons options and off we go!

I mean maybe it's a turnaround for the modders, a bit of wasted work and a different direction, but surely it's worth it for a top notch end result?

Few weapons?

Me 410 had over 140 different permutations in arrangement involving nearly every weapon in the Luftwaffe's arsenal, from 7.92mm to 50mm BK cannon.
