Bad news And good news:
Bad new is that i have a terrible backache and i'm at sickleave for about 5 days. Good news is that i have some extra time for map making because i cant do anything else. I just bought new kayak and was planning to test it, but that had to wait now.
I been thinking about small central European style map. Time period would be late 30Confused. Railroads and small towns. Maybe 1 or 2 rivers. Those Slovakian objects are so beautifull. Would be nice to make it like train simulator and after putting trains and vechiles to it, just fly around it and then start BLIZ.Confused  and destroy everything with screaming stukas!!!
An other great map would be African plains.

Any suggestions?

Your maps have all been pretty great so far, kapteeni!
I'm sure you could surprise us with something, and we'll love it!!

I'm wanting to tackle a map of my part of the world one day - the Cape Peninsula (South Africa)- Lots of mountains, coastline etc. It's a pretty daunting task from where I'm sitting at the moment... Confusedhock:
Historically, not of much significance, other than a few coastal U-boat incidents - but very scenic, and should be great to fly over!
Don't hold you breath - this could take a year or so, considering that my free time is becoming less these days... Cry

kapteeni, along the lines of the SE Asian-type map, how about reworking the Mountain Map--I think it's Online 4 (I'm at work and can't look it up)--with lots of jungle and only a few villages, maybe one or two basic airfields hewn out of the trees, etc. I always like flying around those mountains and through the valleys, and thought if it were jungle-ized it wiould be perfect.

South Africa is absolutely beatiful. I have been there several times after "bush tours" in eastern /central Africa. I fell in love with SA so much, that i almost moved in.
BTW doesn't some parts of my map look like veld with kopjes and stuff. At least it brings some good memories for me...

Have yoy tested those textures yet. I'm no texture specialist, But i been using chroma because i been in moviemaking/photoghraphing. Problem to get chroma work is light. No shadows alouded. I suggest that u make small halfbowl terrain and use snow as chroma colour. It seems to work quite well. When recording with fraps, use pause. So you can rotate airplanes freely. That would be the easiest method...
editing textures is not exactly mu cup of vodka
