Bail out realism

Is there anyway something can be tweaked in the game that stops all crew members of a bomber bailing out? I'm so over watching 9-10 of crews bail out of an aircraft (heavy bomber in this instance) that IRL would maybe have seen 1 - 2 guys get out of, if any at all.

I know at super high speeds your pilot get stucks and it seems this is the case for AI as well, but you saw a Fortress in half and lop off a wing and aside from the obligatory dead radio operator, the rest get out as if its no hassle at all. It's a serious immersion killer.

i agree 100% and what about the other topic about rework the bail out system to become it more realistic.

Good idea. I'd also like to see a percentage (10% maybe) random chance that when you try to bail out, you get "stuck" and are not actually able to.

Nah Trooper, just reading too many real accounts where canopy won't open, harness/oxygen mask/radio cord gets stuck on something and the writer barely gets out. I assume there were many others that weren't able to get unstuck and therefore weren't around to write about it. But I really want the randomness failure just so I don't get complacent--you know, the "Welll, I'm over home territory so if I ramrod around like there's no tomorrow, no sweat 'cause I can just bail and everything will work out okay" attitude. well, this has been hashed out many times on other forums.. There are so many variables when parachuting from an aircraft.. Just getting out clean, or in an unstable position can mean a correct parachute deployment or not, this can mean full canopy deployment rapidly, or an untidy slower one, leading to a possible malfunction.. Shall we model that as well?
There have been people calling for a several step sequence that has to be mapped on your keyboard to produce 'realism' in releasing harness, disconnecting radio and oxygen hose, opening/jettison of canopy etc.. All from people who haven't got a flippin scooby on how to carry out a parachute descent for real, let alone getting out of a stricken, spinning aircraft!
To my mind IL2 has got it reasonablly correct.. you will notice that bail out times vary depending on wether you are wounded or not, or if your aircraft is in a rapid severe spin.. sometimes its several seconds before your pilot bails out, taking into account all of the above..

No need to get testy, Trooper. :? I sky dived for many years--in the old days using a conventional chute (no flying wings) and you climbed out on the Piper's struts and let go when you were ready--so although I never bailed out from a stricken craft, I know there can be f*ck ups in leaving a perfectly good plane, let alone one on fire/out of control/etc.

Agreed, and also agreed that IL2 has it about right, considering all the variables. My point was simply that it would be nice to know that once in a great while--even if I'm not wounded or have too many G's acting on my pilot's bod--that I can't bail. I think occasional randomness is better than 100% predictability in a combat sim, that's all. It would be nice to be able to simulate that through an optional mod. What's the problem with that (assuming it could be done and someone with the know how wants to do it)?

P.S. I like your negativity/hostility to the doom and gloom mod naysayers on IC and the Ubizoo, but why here?

I've been a military parachutist and done the sport parachuting thing as well for most of my adult life.. and like you started parachuting by climbing out under the wing, holding onto a strut and diving, (or falling off)..lol!
I've had collisions, entanglements, air steals, freak canopy deployments, unstable exits etc.. yet I've often had snotty nosed lunatics who have never jumped out of their flippin armchairs, let alone an aircraft at high speed, telling me I don't know what I'm talking about and they know best.. lol.
So I'll try not to come across as being too testy in future.. :mrgreen:

even that i dont like where the people are touching the rudder or the horizontal stabelizier, and they dont get wounded or killed Confusedhock:

Hey Trooper, I was a little sensitive there, I guess. No prob. Big Grin On my last jump (24 years ago--damn I'm getting old) the wind shifted 90 degrees the moment I left the strut, unbeknownst to me, and I couldn't figure out the correction, landed in a stone quarry and busted an ankle. The wife was observing, unfortunately, and that was the last time I ever jumped.

OK, back to the subject. Sorry aj.
