HS132 (via. Lerche)
#1

Hello all,

It just occurred to me that the Lerche cockpit in Il-2 was actually based on the captured HS-132 prototype (according to one of Oleg's interviews at SimHQ).

Along with the Lerche forward fuselage, the HeS-011 on the He-162 and various bits in pieces the HS-132 may be well within reach.

S!

[quote]Henschel's Hs 132 was a World War II dive bomber and interceptor aircraft of the German Luftwaffe that never saw service. The unique design featured a top-mounted jet engine and the pilot in a prone position. The Soviet Army occupied the factory just as the Hs 132 V1 was nearing flight testing, the V2 and V3 being 80% and 75% completed.

Oh yes baby!! A Hs-132C with the He S 011 turbojet looks the go for a late-1946 service introduction? It'd give the Luftwaffe something to combat all these post-war F4U and P-80 types being proposed elsewhere on the boards, and that nasty Seafire 47 in lieu of an Me P.1091a. Not to mention it looks like the Korean War setting is getting developed here, with MiG-15's and Sabrejets, perhaps this and the HG II Messerschmitt will give Germany a role here?

I would I must admit, love to see an equal degree of pre-war development types too, like the Dewoitine, Avia 534 and Fiat CR.32 to really even things out for a comprehensive 1935-50 era of combat flight simming in Il2 :!: Idea

This is great stuff guys!

And also it would be great to see B-36 'Peacemaker" and B-??? flying wing (propeller and jet version) and other type of US 'what if' bomber of 1946, especialy that would be carried into korea war.

These bombers would be a must. However, B-36 would be too complicated which I do understand, but flyng wing would be possible since there are german 'flying wing' aircraft in IL-2.
