A problem with Il-2 is thats its geared towards smaller flights of a/c. Fighters do not fly in formations of more than four aircraft, if ya know what I'm talking about unlike what you can do with bombers in the FMB.

Is it possible to get fighters to fly in formations of up to 16 aircraft like their bomber counterparts?

Ex: In the FMB if you place a lead group of bombers and set all their waypoints then set another group of bombers and set their second waypoint as the lead aircraft, the second group of bombers form up in formation with the lead and will follow the lead group throughout their waypoints. (handful)

Is this possible to do for fighters? Kinda gettin' tired of only having four aircraft in formation and some other scattered around representing a large formation.

Would be great if this were possible.

Do you mean set Target (as escort) to lead AC?

Dont see why it wouldn't work for fighters in that case.

You can setup you basic fighter formation in the FMB then go into the QMT. You can set the distances apart and altitude for additional flights of aircraft. The flights are separate of course, but you determine spacing. This will appear as large formations.

You won't get the flights to actually fly in one large group, which is what I'm thinking you want.

You will have one filght of fighters (1-4 aircraft) and then when you place additional fighter flights they will follow waypoints. You can also set waypoints on each fighter group, which is nice for making sure you are taking out targets.

... yup but it all falls apart with first sight of enemy ..... then is where Ai go nuts

it would be nice if leader could command more flights .... it just to be that way but now second flight just follows target assignment ( mission) and disregards any order

But it could be very nice to fly in full squadron formation (12 aircrafts)
