Hello IL2 MODDING COMMUNITY!
#1

Believe it or not, IL2 is getting alot of publicity these days! Thanks to you modders. For those of us who have never played the game, we would NEVER have purchased it if not for the good things we heard about the mods available to this game.

Anyway, I got my game yesterday. Its IL2 Sutrmovik 1946.

I have not done anything except install the game. No patches , nothing.

I would like your advice on mods to install. Graphics mods, sound mods, I want to mod this game into looking like its from 2008! Not 2003.

I appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Good day.

Cpt. Bloom.

Don't forget to patch the game to 4.08, or 9b, otherwise the MODs will not work. Welcome aboard!

Aside from the obvious improvements to the basic game from the sound and aircraft mods, you would really be missing the boat, so to speak (LOL), if you didn't DL FC's Ship Pack and Fireball's wind Config MODs. I would also get Fireballs "smaller Increment Speed Bar" MOD as well.

But THE most important thing of all, is to not get too frustrated with all of this. You have a mighty steep learning curve ahead of you with just the game itself, let alone figuring out all these MODs. There's lots of help here in the forums, so don't hesitate to make use of it from time to time. Remember, the only stupid question is the one you don't ask.

Thanks working on it now. Im just confused about this part.

"3a. Soundmod v093
(The link is inoperative) ENG_Sound_mod_Version_093.exe
It uses the old 'files' folder, you need to rename 'files' to SOUNDMOD and put it into MODS.
You dont need the other files included, only those inside the 'files' folder!
This method works also with other mods, which still use the 'files' folder. "

Do I change the folder "FILES" to soundmod? And then copypast it to the /MODS folder?

So what happens to other files in the files folder? Are they needed? I just put everything into the mods folder.

or you can leave it as it is, but I dont use the 'files' folder anymore

Well guys I gave it a shot. Game doesnt load up. I see a picture of a zero going over a ACC and then game crashes at abou 60% load.

I may have installed things wrong . BTW I am using matrox triplehead digital addition , could this be the problem? For those of you who don't know what this is, it basicaly stretches the game out to around 3000x 1000 resolution across 3 monitors and gives you more view space.

Heres what I did. Uninstalled. Reinstalled. Booted up, it works.
Then patched it to 4.08m, still works.
Then downloaded the "Install the QuickLaunchPack.
Download > mods_4_409b1m.zip "

And it crashes as soon as the loadup screen comes on.

Did you install the actual 4.09b1m patch?

First I downloaded

http://browse.files.filefront.com/Offic ... files.html

and ran the executable.

Then I downloaded and extracted the "Download > mods_4_409b1m.zip "

Is that what you mean?

Thats when the crashes began.

I tracked the crash to the FILES.SFS file (I believe).
