I really like your idea to make 2 maps, and include part of Formosa in the one. I think that is the best call. Take that as a big compliment coming from a campaign designer. It will be nice to fly missions from Formosa as well as bombing it

Really looking forward to having a bash at this - the airfield looks so much better than the standard we face on most of the in game maps. The modders are doing brilliant work with new maps.

Thanks Phil, I've already read both of these. The London Gazette report is very useful as it give exact positions for the fly-off points.

I've now acquired some good contemporary maps of Formosa but I still need information on the airfield layouts.

The National Archives have been good to me - fantastic aerial photographs of nearly every airfield I';ve wanted to find for France and England. And during my searches, I've come across references for documents detailing many other theatres, including Formosa. Hopefully there will be photographs, but even if it doesn't there should be details of runways, lengths, location, hardpoints etc.

I visited the archives today and had a look for some Formosa stuff- sadly the documents didn't contain any photos. However, I do have scans of a map showing the location of all airfields, plus about 6 pages of tables detailing each airfield (lots of info).

I've not progress much on the map as I've been spending time researching Formosa. I've got plans of most of the major airfields and city's but still very few photos. Still I should have enough to make an accurate representation.

Lately I've been experimenting with different tiles to represent the Formosa countryside. I've still not found what I'd like and I may have to do some custom textures.

I'll post some more screenshots soon.

Thanks Glibble I've already got the maps from the University of Texas at Austin. It's a great resource and has a lot of WWII era pacific maps.

CannonUK's scans from the UK National Archive are really usefully with detailed descriptions of all the Japanese airfields in Taiwan.
