The question is what do you think of the idea of converting all U.S carrier planes into a German style like so

It has got some potential, looks like a profile of a captured F4U I came across a few years back... A couple of creative tips for you - from one who has done more Corsair skins than I care to think of..

The panel & rivit lines, you might wish to reduce their transparency down, 20-30 percent even, and duplicate the layer, and make the duplicated layer white, also with the transperancy down - moved slightly (read 1 pixel difference) to create a 3d panel effect.

The F4U is a difficult one to get lookin right, it took me a while to get the effect quite right & perfect my own template... see below, might give you a bit of a idea of how I proceeded through my ventures into the wonderful world of the Corsair Pallete.

You may also wish to make more of a contrast in the camo scheme too, but thats just from what I reckon anyway.

Keep at it mate Smile

1st - note the panel effect is similar to what you've got there;

2nd - note panel/rivet improvement, plus colouring and weathering improvement;

3rd - note further improvement on the Panels/Rivets, and weathering effects;

4th and final version, and perfected base template;

and a copy of light and dark rivet layers with about 3-4 px gaussian blur (lower layers) .Also around 15-25% opacity - adjust accordingly.

Keep at it,
I agree that rivet and panel layers should be a little more subtle.

I quite enjoy skinning Corsairs as well but no matter what your chosen subject it comes down to what looks right to you.
