Fatal shot

I was playing again B50's JG27 Campaign, (a little bit enhanced with custom skins for a/c and pilots) and I had this moment I've never experienced before in my whole 6 years of il2 gaming. Confusedhock:
I was chassing a hurri to get my fifth vic over Belgium and France and seemed I got him nailed for good.
I had clearly cut off a large piece of it's tail, including rudder, with a sort burst of cannon fire. 8)
I didn't want to expand any more of my precious cannon shells and decided to finish him off with mg fire. The guy was probably a veteran as he was wobbling around to spoil my aim, but he couldn't do much without a rudder either.
I aimed for his engine and gave him a lond burst trying not to get any closer as these things have a bad tendency to explode on your face.
Suddenly I saw the canopy ejecting and stopped firing, but not as instantly as I thought at first, as I saw the poor guy going down on his head... :o
While bailling out, he has probably got some of the last rounds that were on air from the moment I saw the canopy flying and glazing against the sun, till stop pressing the trigger.
This was my first pilot kill that I saw the "enemy" actually "dying" ... Cry
Still amased by this game after all these years! 8)
The screenshot is untouched, except from size reducing.

elephant, I've seen that happen at least twice recently. (I've been playing for 6 years too, and never encountered it before, either.) I was firing as the enemy a/c was smoking, and the pilot climbed/bailed out the side right into my mg/cannon fire. Funny thing is, I felt bad about it, almost as if it was real. Certainly helped with the immersion, though.
