High res oil splatter
#31

This is the final look of it. Black enough for immersion, but transparent enough for flying. It is the same file for all, but looking different on each plane. Black can be blurred but transparent part not, I can’t make it to look like real glass with some liquid on it; I need refraction for it (one day when we will be flying in "Crysis" game  . . .). So that is it so far for fuel cleaning system.

Damage textures goes beneath it, so it looks like there is oil in bullet hole too, but that’s it.

Outstanding Avala! Im definitly ready for this one. I am so taken by the over all look of the oil, the small little bugs like the bullet hole thing are of no consequence to me. I will DEFINITLY use this mod.

Brilliant!

(Newbie question... gotta start somewhere!)

I don't have a "3DO" folder in my root IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 folder. Where exactly do I find these files?

Do you mean where you can find the original files to edit them yourself or where to put the files of finished mods?

For the first thing, use the sfs extractor. It's in the modding tools section of this forum. With that tool you can extract the sfs files where the game data is stored.

For installing mods, do you have the soundmod already? If not, install it. There should be instructions in the sticky on how to install it.
Then you should have a folder called MODS in you Il-2 root directory. In there go all mods you install. Each mod is in a separate folder and in that folder the file structure of the game's sfs files is recreated.
So for this mod, when it is released, (which i'm looking forward to very much Smile) there will be a folder called "oil splatter" or something like that, which goes into the MODS folder. In the "oil splatter" folder there is then a folder called 3do with appropriate subfolders.

Sorry for the longwinded explanation. If that was not exactly what you wanted to know, ask more specifically. 8)

you only need it to make your own mods....not to use those made by others
