So that got me thinking about the Stearman.

You could "probably" use the J8A/Gladiator for 90% of the building. Probably the hardest part would be the exposed engine, which i have no idea how you'd solve

yes good idea! also we are going to change the FM drastically because the top speed and the manuvability are to tally different than the Gladiator. Good Idea!

Sure, but Bu-133 would be better. But nevertheless a good 'red' counterpart for the Jungmeister.

The U2 has an engine like that, without cowling. Should work as a stand-in I'd say.

hopefully a modder will pick this up, but I'm sure all are currently committed to several projects, which is still a good thing.

Unfortunately Po-2 have 5-cylinder engine.
Stearman have Lycoming or Pratt & Whittney 9-cylinder engine.
I think it did not look well.

What about 2 of the U2 engines, sitting inside eachother, rotated so that all the cylinders were visible? It would give 10 cylinders, but 10 is closer to 9 than 5 is.

As a modder, I think it wood look awful - but worth a try.

Well, the professional knows best!
Two more suggestions would be 1) Taking a regular radial engine and removing the cowl (if possible) and 2) using the newly discovered 3D tools to somehow arrange individual cylinders

I agree with Slow on this one... The cowl covers cannot be removed unfortunatly...

HOWEVER...

I will say; have patience, wait a week or two... and see what comes...

How about 2 U2 engines like Brophmeister says, but one of them msh-hacked by MrJolly so it only has 4 cylinders?
