English Channel 1940 and the static.ini SOLVED !
#1

Sorry for starting another thread here but this subject is getting lost among the general hubub.
The story so far.
I (like many others I suspect) had no static.ini when I downloaded and installed this map (as per instructions). Canonuk was kind enough to provide his static.ini file However using Canons file (including the blister fix) it was not possible to save missions. Fabian Fred then provided this Static.ini file

This file enabled me to save missions but the only objects visible in the map were canons custom objects. (For example Maidstone didnt have a single building) I should also point out that this is the only static.ini that has enabled me to save missions. A second static.ini from Fabian fred wouldnt let me save.
Now this morning I saw a default static.ini had been released so I downloaded that and following the instructions added the lines needed for this map. I then replaced ther above static.ini with this one.

At this point I was going to include the static.ini file I made but it was too long. anyway it consisted of the default static.ini posted this morning with the additional lines needed for the channel map (ncluding blister entry)

Now I am back to being unable to save a mission on the map. What is the difference between the two static.inis that would prevent me from saving a mission when using the second one?
Yes its all to easy to say wait for the final version, but the fact that I am having these problems while others are not would tend to suggest there is a problem with my setup which is why I want to eradicate this problem now.
I hope someone can get to the bottom of this and solve the problem and thanks to everyone who is already trying. I am sure I am not the only one who is waiting for a solution to this problem

Some of the answers are getting lost among the questions too.

It looks like you only have the lines from the "ADD TO" file as your static.ini

You can get the 4.09bm default static.ini here http://www.mediafire.com/?nwymljutmlf

Copy and paste the lines from Canons "ADD TO" file at the end. (before //=====eof marker)

save file into #:\...tour il2 root..\MODS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects.

you may also need to add this-
Quote://===========================================================================
[***]
Title Kronstadt Summer
//===========================================================================

// ------------ Plates ---------------

[buildings.Plate$Kronstadt1]
Title Kronstadt1
Mesh 3do/Buildings/Russia/Piter/Kotlin/Kronstadt01/live.sim

Pls let us know if this is the fix as it may well affect other users with just default statics.
(plates come with FMB+ and Fred used clones of them for his Thailand and the excellent little Scramble map so lines to add were included for those)

Yes, as I said that Static.ini is the only one I can save missions with. I had already tried the default download you pointed me to along with the additions required. This didnt help. Now I have tried adding the Kronstadt section but it has made no difference. using this Static.ini I can see all the objects on the map normally but cant save missions.

Do you see the taxiways and dirt strips? If not those entries will need to be added

Another (longwinded ) check you could make with the appended default static is to load in FMB and check the Objects window.

probably easiest to place item1 on map, then in 3d view (zoom in & press enter) then use PageDown key to cycle back through the list.

You'll notice Kronstadt plate will not show in display window. Hit page down again and you should see 2nd to last object (go to 2D to enable viewer window again , then back to 3d as you cycle back with PageDown you may see (or rather not see) the next item in the display window (also the object on map won't change) . Make a note of any that wont display (apart from the plate) and check that the folder is in place and there are no typos or wrong paths given .

eg in "Mesh 3do/Buildings/....etc........./live.sim"

Killerwatt I was having exactly the same problem as you with my static.ini as I too couldn't see buildings and airfields etc.

However...this static.ini by Hot Space solved the problem for me. It combines canon's revamped static.ini with the forgotton blister hangar

Quote:Here ya go.

Make sure you back up Canon's version 1st though just incase

It includes all the known fixes here all in one:

http://files.filefront.com/EnglishChann ... einfo.html

Once installed make another mission an save & play and you will see all known objects:

Hot Space hope you don't mind, and Killerwatt hope this solves your problems Big Grin

OK. Heres what I have done. I started with the Static.ini posted in my first post and then added the default static.ini one titled section at a time and checked each section as I added them. The following sections prevented missions from being saved.

Railroads
Groundplate
Concrete Plate
Blank Plate
PCP Plate
PAC_GRPlate
PAC_ Sand plate
and also the subsection "Plates" from the Kronstadt summer section.
Anyone know why these sections in particular should cos any problems?

I cannot understand how entries for objects which are redundant, and not being used in a map, can cause trouble...
NO map uses all the sections and objects available in the static ini.... :? Confusedhock: :? Sad

Had my suspicions about these; as they are items added by FMB+.
What I don't understand is why the stock maps in Il2 which use them are not afflicted with the problem.

Those items are still in the default static ini....they are merely unlocked for use by the FMB+

The Red arrow Runaway icon ..although it can be seen on the ground in the FMB+ is not unlocked or selectable.....you need the fully unlocked map makers FMB for that.

Just to clarify things, The list I posted is a list of entire sections. I am not sure if it is each entire section or only some entries in each section that causes the problem as I didnt narrow down my checklist that far. Also I do not have FMB+ installed.
