All you need to do is go into the MODS folder inside your main 1946 folder. Delete the MPH_KPH_AND_FEET_METETS_HUD folder and you are back to the original.

So there is in fact no toggle then? You actually have to disable/enable the mod.

It would be nice to have this linked to a key stroke to toggle in-game.

That was for going back to the original GUAGES.

For the SPEED BAR, you can toggle that thru several types: MPH/Feet, Knots/Feet, and KPH/Meters, and NO SPEEDBAR.

You may have to assign a key for that tho. Just look in the Controls options for TOGGLE SPEEDBAR.

Thanks for the reply! Great. I did try assigning a button but it didn't work. I will try again. Many Thanks!

For those of you that like wingflyer's guages, and MrJolly's readouts, you can have both with just a wee bit of work.

First, D/L and INSTALL MrJolly"s MPH_AND_FEET_HUD.exe mod.

Now, D/L your preferred wingflyer HUD set.
Install this one into a TEMPERARY folder.

Copy all of the hudxxx.mat and hudxxx.tga files in the FILES/GUI/GAME/HUD folder into the MODS/MPH_KPH_AND_FEET_METERS_HUD/GUI/GAME/HUD folder in your 1946 install.

This will give you Wingflyer's HUD with MrJolly's digital MPH/FEET readout, and MPH first on the speedbar.

I got the Hud Config_v1 mod to work, but I am a little confused about the readme. There is a line at the bottom there for the HudGauges that reads:

HUDGauges: This parameter determines which altitude and airspeed units are displayed on the no-cockpit (Ctrl+F1) gauges. Permissible values are:

1 - both digital and analog gauges in kmh/meters (default value)
2 - both digital and analog gauges in mph/feet
3 - digital gauges in mph/feet and analog gauges in kmh/meters

-- If you choose 'HUDGauges=2' you need to copy the 'hudleftMph.tga' file in 'MODS\HUDConfig_b1\GUI\game\hud' to 'hudleft.tga'.

-- If you choose 'HUDGauges=3' you need to copy the 'hudleftMphKmh.tga' file in 'MODS\HUDConfig_b1\GUI\game\hud' to 'hudleft.tga'.

It is unclear where this hudleftMph.tga file is supposed to go. The readme just says copy it to "hudleft.tga" but is that the hudleft.tga located :

C:\Program Files \Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\MODS\MPH_KPH_AND_FEET_METERS_HUD\GUI\game\hud
I am assuming it is because thats where I put it and it worked... but the readme was unclear.. you might want to tweak that.

Don't know where this should go, but is it possible to have a gyro sight in the HUD at all?
Or would that mess with too many aircraft that didn't have the option?

You need to change the 'hudleftMph (or) Kmh.tga' file in 'MODS\HUDConfig_b1\GUI\game\hud' to 'hudleft.tga' which is the original file name for either one you choose to work for you, hudleftMph hudleftKmh.tga file name is not used anywhere, only whats inside the file. I hope that was helpful.

Gents, I have installed the mod that shows MPH by default but I just can't get it to work. The folder is in my MODS folder! Do I need to add a line of text somewhere?

Edit: Never mind I found it!

Cheers!

[quote="MrJolly"]New HUDs

We decided to change the HUD to use TAS mph & feet instead of what it is now (TAS kph & meters) we then thought it would be a good idea to have both TAS mph & kph , feet & meters - the following mods allow you to choose what you want the HUD to display

This is fabulous. However we need one more gauge; the Vertical Speed Indicator, or VSI. It's really hard to determine sink rate from the altimeter alone, especially on landing. I'll probably keep bouncing them in until there is one in the HUD mode. Most planes have them on their panels but they're too small to read!
