#1

I've seen screenshots and Ive downloaded some skins for the F4u1 birdcage corsair, but the only folder to drop these skins in is the F4U1a folder and they just turn into the 1a.How or where can I get the birdcage?

Yep, it's the British Corsair MkI. Somewhere along the line during the making of Pacific Fighters someone decided that only the British used the F4U-1 in combat. The truth is that the British used the F4U-1 very little in front line service, but the U.S. Marines used them extensively. Most accurate WW II air combat sim? Riiiiiight.

But what about the 10 million things Oleg got right? My main complaint is definitely the weakness of the US 50 cal. It is ridiculous that, with all the existing footage of the power of the 50, that oleg knowingly made them too weak on purpose. It is incredibly frustrating, and it takes away one of the biggest advantages the Americans had. Speed was the first, which they still sort of have (ever fought a J2M with a mustang at any altitude above 6-10k? You're fighting a UFO in a bathtub), and range was second (something irrelevant in the online game), firepower was third, but it wasn't a distant third. It was top of the line firepower, along with top of the line speed and range. The Americans did not really make any sacrifices with fighter design during WWII because they did not have to. Having all that industrial might and limitless access to capital and resources makes war winning an exercise in statistics. Nothing more. But the 50 cal was one of the finest aerial weapons ever conceived at the time. Ballistics, hitting power, and weight balance. It was perfect. The jamming problems you might have heard about were not reflective of the gun's service as a whole (but I'd still like to see that modeled in il2), and as I recall it was usually case specific and not a fundamental problem with the gun. Ah well...
