DCG Malta Campaign
#31

fabianfred Wrote:Well I managed to get it to generate the campaign.......the DCG error log file said that I was trying to fly a german plane in a russian campaign (gladiator1)

I went to my air.ini and changed the glad1+2 to (1) (allied)

started and it put me in a Hurricane...in fact all the allied planes were Hurricanes....no sign of any Gladiators....????

so I came here...without actually starting the mission

In your DCG settings turn aircraft upgrades and downgrades off. That is the problem. DCG is giving you the most current plane because of the settings you have.

If you turn aircraft downgrades / upgrades off, it should stop this and you should stay with a Gladiator.

edit:
Also, unckeck historical production dates ... that might be the cause too

Scharnhorst1943,

While waiting for the other work you're doing I found this therad and decided to give it a go. I thought I have followed all the directions correctly but obviously have done something wrong. When I went to start a campaign with the British I selected the Malta Pilot and then chose my plane and clicked on generate. I then got a message saying here were no flyable squads (or something to that effect- it was late last night and I don't remember the exact wording sorry!) and it wouldn't generate. I then remembered you wrote this in a previous post:

So I unchecked those, even downgrades for tanks just to make sure, and went back in to generate the campaign. I got to the same point but when I click on generate nothing happens at all now. I'm just stuck at that screen. Any ideas? Thanks!

I think it is one of two problems (maybe both). You have chosen a squadron ID for the British. I bet you have Gaston's more squadrons mod installed ... you need to add the squadron you chose to the list of DCG squadrons. In the DCG/Data folder there is a "squadids" file. Add the squadron you chose to this file ... You probably made a campaignsGbX and a planesGbX file for the list of maps you want in your campaign and the planes available for each map. Now you need to make a squadronsGbX that will be a list of available squadrons for your campaign. Check to make sure you 1) have the squadronsGbX file in your DGen folder and 2) the squadron I.D. you are using is in both of these files.

Problem #2 - you might need to change the checkbox in DCG that makes the Gladiator flyable. I am guessing it is problem #1. Try this and see if it works. To get the Squadron ID to put into the file, open up the master map you made to get it.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the quick reply! I didn't intentionally download Gaston's mod, maybe it was included in the AAA Mod pack or Mods_4_409b1m_new.zip? How would I know if I have it? I also didn't select any squadron, just what was the default which is 601 Squadron (Malta).

I'm a bit confused by this. If I can't generate a campaign how will I be able to alter things related to it? Where is this gladiator checkbox you speak of? I also didn't create any master map so where do I find it or how do I create it? Sorry for the noob questions but I can't help it. Smile Thanks for your help!

Avatar, am I to understand you have downloaded my Malta campaign and it won't Generate, or you have made your own and are having trouble?

If you have downloaded mine and it won't work, it is because it requires Gaston's more Squadrons & Nations mod. You can get it here: (The link is inoperative)

In the readme there might be another mod that is required to run this campaign. Download that too. Once you install Gaston's mod, the campaign should generate.

As far as DCG, open up DCG.exe and go to the plane editor panel and make sure you have the Gladiator MkI & MkII flyable. There is a checkbox there.

Let me know if it still won't work.

Scharnhorst, thanks for your reply. I must have missed the need for Gaston's mod. Yes, I'm trying to use your campaign, sorry I didn't make that clear. I'll download Gaston's mod and read it to see if I need anything else and then post back with the results. Thanks for your help and patience!

Downloaded Gaston's mod, but didn't do either of the voice packs that were mentioned, and it still just sits there when I click on generate. I also went into DCG and made sure the Gladiators were flyable (but felt that it was for my previous campaing not the one I am trying to generate but what do I know. Smile ) Any other ideas what I have done wrong or haven't done Scharnhorst? Thanks.

When you installed my campaign files, did you just replace them all, or did you copy and paste the DATA IN my files INTO the DCG files? If you just replace the files it could cause you grief ...
Are you running the latest DCG version? (v3.38)

I did exactly this:

Quote:Instilation -

1) Paste the file "NationsAndSquadrons" into your C://Program Files/Ubisoft/IL2 1946/MODS folder.

2) Put all the files in the DGen folder into C://Program Files/Ubisoft/IL2 1946/DGen.

3) Put the skins into the correct folders.

4) copy the contents of the "allcampaigns.dcg" file and paste it into the allcampaigns.dcg file found in C://Program Files/Ubisoft/IL2 1946/dcg336/data. Save and close this file.

5) Copy the contents of the "maps.dcg file" and paste it into the maps.dcg file found in C://Program Files/Ubisoft/IL2 1946/dcg336/data.Save and close this file.

6) Copy and paste the contents of "endcampaign.dcg" into the endcampaign.dcg file found in C://Program Files/Ubisoft/IL2 1946/dcg336/data. Save and close this file.

7) Put "Malta40.mis" in C://Program Files/Ubisoft/IL2 1946/dcg336/Masters.

8) Put "Malta40.rds" in C://Program Files/Ubisoft/IL2 1946/dcg336/Data.

9) Put the actors.static file in your Malta map folder. It should be C://Program Files/Ubisoft/IL2 1946/MODS/MapMods/maps/mrz_Malta

10) add the contents from "squadids.dcg" to your squadids.dcg file in C://Program Files/Ubisoft/IL2 1946/dcg336/data. Make sure to add it underneath the italian squadrons. save and close this file.

Done! fire up and play! You may want to tweak DCG settings if you run into low FPS or missions where you never intercept an enemy

Yes, I'm running 3.38.

I can still run my other DCG campaigns just fine, yours just gives a click sound when I hit generate. Plus, I just discovered that by installing Gaston's mod I can no longer make custom missin to put into the QMB because I replaced a file and no longer have the Blue side option of "German Army" so I get this "Wrong Target Selected" error message. I've been racking my brains for hours trying to figure that out and now have to try and fix that... Sad
