New Aircraft!
#1

Salutations one & all,

Everytime theres a new aircraft release theres loads of people having install issues (mostly CTD's at varying % or new aircraft not showing up) I SAY AGAIN - As I said in my post in the technical help section - there is something fundamentally wrong with this install system !!

Dont get me wrong I appreciate ALL the work going into this stuff but this thing aint right !!

Personally i've so many issues i've stopped installing new aircraft all together - i'm sick of getting everything running ok only to start all over again after installing a new one.

GUYS SOMETHING AINT RIGHT !!

I think you have it the wrong way round.A few have problems, and most install with no problems at all.

Basically the game wasn't meant to be modded, and there are a significant number of people who do not exercise due care when installing these mods.

Simple formula to follow when installing all mods to prevent troubles;

Follow the instructions TO THE LETTER.

People with problems installing are usually missing something obvious, and it's nearly always their fault.

I was having trouble with the Hurri IID and when I realised what I had done wrong, it was fine. Nothing wrong with the instructions.. only with the carrying out of those instrctions Smile

Some thign eles is that some ppl will have the same problem and post 17 times in different places about it.

As people say above, the most important thing is to follow instructions to the letter. I've installed all airplanes modded here and several other mods and I've never had any problem at all.. Never had to reinstall.. I do realise that it can be frustrating when you are eager to try out a new airplane and the game doesn't want to start, but that's why you have forum here, there must always be a solution to your problem..

Friendlier replies than I expected - thanks guys!

BTW, I DO follow the instructions TO the letter and i'm not a novice at this stuff - just that everytime I add one my game wont load past 60%, only uninstalling the plane(s) restores it ?? The Beau was ok if I remember but all planes past AC_INSTALLER 2.0 have been a nightmare !

My suspicions lie with the STD folder - but hey I didnt have the brains to make all this stuff so my little rant ends here.

YEP & I only have one 'buttons' file!

Cheers,

even though I follow the instruction to the letter, I still end up having to fix things from time to time when I download new aircraft.

Example i have now is after installing A/C Installer 2.2, and the HurkD I had crashing problems. The only way I could fix it was to remove the STD file from MODS folder all together.

8th reinstall here...

Sometimes I don't pay attention, and that's why...

I honestly think we should stop making mods... if they don't work for everyone but a mere 99,99% of the user base then we should ask ourselves, are we good enough to proceed?

Keep 'em comin boys! I love 'em all!

IL-2 mods 4 life! 8)
