(4.09)Alpha available ...Thailand/Burma/Indochina

I was also not able to save missions but I can NOW!
I downloaded all of FF's extras off his site and was able to view all the pretty lil things and I could save missions on other maps too...I just had the problem saving on FF's map.
In the end I downloaded HIS static.ini file and replaced the old one that I had altered.
Everything works now and I can even use and save on the other maps which I was worried about.

So, FF, your static file does work for other maps too...unless I missed something??
I also have THE SLOT maps so is there anything I should be looking for that might be missing?
One thing I noticed...now my OBJECTS list has several objects missing at the end. I'll have to go back and check the file to see which ones they might be. Before I changed to FF's file I had all the flags at the end and now they are moved up the list. I'm not sure if all the flags are there now. Will check later.

Anyway, glad all that is finally settled and I can now save missions. It's a GREAT MAP! One slight thing I noticed was on the runway at Toungoo...it goes uphill at the south end. I didn't notice any major effects while testing it. Perhaps you wanted it to be that way...in the rough. Nothing's perfect in Burma so it seems natural!

I also love the FLAGS download you had available on your site. I especially like the TEXAS flag! 8) I was dissapointed not to see a Czech flag though Cry

In the future version of the map can you delete the British flag at Toungoo? and at any other places I didn't notice? The Japanese had control of most of Burma from '42-45 so we'd have to have a change of flags. I had to brackett the British flag with a Texas flag on each side of it. It works but would be easier without.

Uphill Runway @ Toungoo works fine.

I will check out the runway at Toungoo ...i need these kind of bug reports to help me iron out problems
yes it is probably better to remove the flags from territory which changed hands ....although the Thai flag was probably flown alongside the japanese one at their bases once the Japanese took control....being as they were 'supposed' to be allies.....'cough, cough'

New mission at my site...in the Thai map folder.... called "Recall mission"

It includes a new actors.static file and map_h and map_t ....as I have altered the height to get Toungoo and Moulmein airstrips flat..... and added more buildings to Rangoon and other places. I also removed the Union Jack flags in Burma.

If you have trouble with the new actors...then use your old one...as I haven't removed the special objects and trees etc.

The mission file also uses some of Lal-Rone's new hangers, so download and install that first Big Grin

It is a single mission for the Hawk (AVG) ....but easily made into a co-op to allow three red pilots and there are many blue places in their bombers.

These other airfields in Burma also have this un-level problem...Mingaladon and Mulmein. I suspect it's because you added this part of Burma later in the process. Tavoy is OK. Not a big problem as the planes work OK on them. They just look a little out the ordinary. I kinda liked Toungoo as it was. It was like part of the runway got washed out with a heavy rain and a lot of simple airfields have un-level runways anyway.

I might wait for a final version before I download more. Just depends if I have time to play with the map and look for bugs.

Suggestions: Can you make the seaplane base at Moulmein? Maybe add more seaplane bases around Tavoy/Andaman Islands, Rangoon, or on coast of Thailand? This will add another dimension to the map.

The map is already good to go as it is. It just depends on how satisfied you are with the details.

now available in the Thai map folder ....... a new Thai map pack ...all-in-one

should be a breeze to install

and the mission in there "Recall" and in the missions section..."ThaiFury" and "AVG Dawn straffe " should be OK too ...(but no need to swap the map files which come with the Recall.mission)

forgot to put in the readme....for 4.09mbeta only

Thanks for the new file Fabianfred, indeed it was easy to install, and i can make missions and save them.

But for an unknown reason, i can't save ntrk on this map (others work fine), any idea on what could cause this ?

Nice shot MrOblongo. Yes, the Hawks sold to Thailand had the fixed landing gear as shown. To replicate this now we'd have to fly with gear down. Those legs look really heavy though! Seems it would be a considerable effect on performance.
Excuse me for getting off topic.

When we did the original map I had to attempt to be consistent with the other textures (tad cartoone), yet be somewhat realistic. Tried new things with that map, including the custom airfields, unfortunately folks had issues with them too Sad . As long as you enjoy them having a better frame of reference than most, then I am happy.
