that's really strange. When i tried the 4.09 files.sfs with the soundmod il2fb.exe, the game got stuck on 95%. When i hit ctrl alt del, i couldn't move the mouse, so i had to restart the computer.

i accidentally deleted the 4.09b1m patch, so now i have to wait an hour before trying again. There is one thing, though- the soundmod replaces a file called buttons in the files/gui/game section. Maybe using just the original will cause it to be unstuck. If not, i'll try reinstalling and starting from scratch.

That is where I am at this point, I am dumping my original and starting from a new install.

I have a working modded copy and the only reason for doing it is the fact that it really pisses me off that what worked once seems to not work now and I really do not have anything else to do.

So,the game doesn't hang up for you when you use the 4.09b1m files?

I'm running vista, in case that may be affecting something (allways entirely possible)

never mind- all problems fixed. had to use the mod switcher
