Datafile corrupt when in QMB: quick.scramble
#1

Hi- loving the new QMB- it ROCKS 8)

I really like being able to take off in the QMB by using the QMB instead of the FMB! But, on some maps (like BoB, MTO,) when I choose quick.scramble, I get the error message "Datafile corrupt."

As I continue to test the problem I see where it happens in other areas (not scramble) too.

Any ideas? Also, is it possible to add to the maps accessible to the QMB by editing the conf.ini?

I may try reinstalling the 4.09bm patch and wrapper but was hoping to not hose things up more without some feedback first.

Thanks in advance Big Grin

Yeah I think I figured it out; any map that doesn't have the right widget(?) will not load under scramble but aught to load fine under "None" target setting.

Would someone else try this and let me know if they have a similar experience? Something like in QMB: BoB map, quick.scramble and see if you get a corrupt message.

Just that it seems like some maps like Slovakia, Hawaii, and a number of others support quick.scramble, but some others do not seem to.

Triad773, your problem is something missing somewhere.

If you click on one of the mission options above and get a Wrong Target window it means there are no missions in the Quick folder for that particular map option.

Arrrrrgh Forager Thanks for your reply- tried it all and it won't seem to work. But I have yet to try some more stuff when I have some time.

Hi Forager - thanks again- saw where you edited your post. Well at least I am not getting the Corrupt warning any more so I think I am closer- just getting the Wrong Target warning. D/L'd the missions and QMBPlus 1.1 - I have version 2 of the same but now I have both.

I'll keep at it 8)

OK- so I have paired it down to these elements:

for the new QMB three elements must be working for all functions for the different categories to work( (None, Scramble, Strike, etc.):
- all.ini (MODS/Maps) file to be in sync with other elements,
- the Custom maps section of the config.ini have a list that is compatible with other elements,
- there must be placeholder .mis files in the respective folders under MODS/QMBPLUS or QMBV2/Quick folders.
(BTW all elements seem to work in principle but not in practice now- what could I be missing?)

Beyond these elements I would need to know if the placeholder .mis files need certain parameters as to "Player," aircraft or other factors. I'd tried reinstalling over what I have in 4.09bM and have a basically satisfactory install, but the 'scramble' setting was one of my favs with UBQMB with different maps. Love taking off, getting up, and getting off on downing enemy badguys as they try to wreck my base Smile

So if anyone has any insight as to what I might be missing it would be much appreciated!

BTW I have yet to develop a 'satisfactory' placeholder mission for the excellent mrz_Hi- Malta map but am looking forward to it with qmb!

Thanks again in advance and cheers

" there must be placeholder .mis files in the respective folders under MODS/QMBPLUS or QMBV2/Quick folders. "

This may be your problem area.
The Quick mission "mis." files belong in the main game Missions folder in the Quick folder.
If there is not one there, make it.
Game Mission Folder should look like this:
Campaign
Net
Quick
Single

Do you have the mission packs for the Quick folder? I cannot find them onsite, this place is a mess.

"Beyond these elements I would need to know if the placeholder .mis files need certain parameters as to "Player," aircraft or other factors."

If I understand you correctly, yes but these are set when you select a map and mission type in the QMB and select your plane and add all the other planes, friend and foe, to the mission.

The Quick Mission .mis files must be in \Missions\Quick (rather than under the Mods directory) to work properly, I think...

But I could be wrong!

Thanks guys for your responses. Progress! I can get Fly_Zo's map to load on scramble now (just had to name it the right name in the config)(BTW-Thanks Zo for the help in naming it right!)! I am just needing to understand HOW to add great new maps like Malta 8) to the QMB Plus! I saw elsewhere that another Gent is looking to do the same thing so I'll lurk there.

Thanks again I'm digging this Big Grin

Look here: (The link is inoperative)

There is a section on Malta map.
Scroll down to see the conf file name, it is 28.

I do not know where there are any QMBPlus missions for the Malta map though so, unless you find some, even though the map shows in QMB you get a Wrong Target Selected iwndow when you select a mission type and try to fly it.

Yes Forager that is my intent! When I was on a squad a few years ago we did Malta with the Hawaii map; we all thought how totally cool it'd be with a more accurate map- and now we have it 8)

Looking forward to rocking out with this! Once I get it together I will try to contribute back to the community by posting it somewhere here Big Grin

BTW thanks for the linkage Smile

Cheers
