Jettison ordinance

Hello

The AI airplanes have the possibility to jettison the bombs and rockets without exploding, Why we do not have that option? If you jettison your bombs they will explode.

Does any mod can have this option available?

1. Like Slow said, AI can't jettison rockets, and if they dump bombs, these explode. Same options as human player has. I doubt that historically pilot had a chance to dump unarmed bombs. They were armed before takeoff, and AFAIK the pilot couldn't secure them before dropping. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

2. Sorry but I can't imagine what possible value such mod would add to the sim. There are MUCH more needed mods. You can always just fire rockets into empty sky and dump the bombs. Why is it exactly that you don't want the bombs to explode?

3. However, an option to dump empty rocket tubes or bombracks (where this is historically justified) would be more than wellcome in order to change the FM to "clean" configuration. Dogfighting G2s that jump you on your return leg in your P-38, possibly damaged from flak, is hard enough, now when additionally "decorated" with 12 empty rocket installations that ruin up your handling and speed it's on a verge of impossible. But, since this mod would mess with the FM of the stock planes (despite the fact that it would only "switch" between them) I assume this is a no-go.

Indeed, Allied (or at least U.S. designed) aircraft could drop ordnance that was unarmed. I think this was a safety issue that more or less insured that a bomb or rocket that fell from an aircraft during takeoff or landing would not detonate. Arming in flight was via the armament control panel toggle switches. The arming switches were only turned on before the attack run. It would be an interesting mod, but I don't see a huge value in it at this time as there are many more things to be done.
