Modded Maps Darker?
#1

Prior to Installing the standardard maps reworked mod and a few other mod maps I could see other aircraft at a fairly good distance & they stood out much better against the ground area.

Now with these new reworked maps I can't pick out anything until they are right on top of me.

I have the Nvidia 8800GTS and of course the drivers are up to date etc & I spent around 30 actual hours adjusting this and that in the control panel & reading up on what each adjustment was for.
It's adjusted as good as its gonna get & was very good prior to modded maps...

do these new reworked maps seem a bit darker to you all..

It is so bad for me that I am considering bagging the whole thing & reinstalling & using only the sound package.

If I can't see anything it takes the fun out of it... The maps do look nicer, but I have noticed that rendering has become a real problem on some maps... such as: doing a wingtip curve around a town on the slovakia map at 1500 meters I could see the areas of the town rendering just ahead of the wing while the town parts would disappear again just behind the wing.

anyone else noticed this scenario?

This is a problem with new maps. They have much more objects and textures. I switched off AA and AF in my grafic settings. I could see the enemy better in near range. But now I had problems to see contacts 10 km away.

You have to work with your config.ini and change the settings there. It is better than the graphic settings ingame. In the config ini you can make the land textures much more blur but the contats stay sharp. It takes some time to find the right mixture but it will help you very much.

Slovakia is an official map, not modded -- though many modded maps use textures and objects from the Slovakia map.

fly_zo...Thanks, I took your advice & re-downloaded & I put each of those 5 dlls into a separate folder & then starting from top to bottom I tested each on the slovakia map up & down the river & over one of the large towns which is right in a big bend of the river.

all 5 dlls had fast movement & re-rendering (off and back on) of the trees & buildings as you went over and around the large town. I did a fly over at 300m each time & the fps would drop to 7-8 on each set of dlls above 1000m the fps held fine.

Dll #3 from the top (02272008) was about the best as it had no raped movement along the river itself or around areas of trees.

I can see that the problem is that the trees are looking good and are a light green from a distance, but as you get closer bunches of dark colored trees pop up & then pop down again. This is causing a rapid flutter that kills flying. some of the houses also popped up & down also, but not as bad as the trees.

If they would just render at a further distance, & then stay rendered it would be o.k., but they just come & go to fast & to close.
