Cloning existing A/C
#1

So, I'm trying to figure out how to make some simple mods, and TBH I'm not really sure where to start with these. I've seen some relatively simple ones and would like to work on a few of my own.

For example, the 109F1 mod is just an F2 with a different cannon. Seems relatively easy.
Along that vein, theres some more early 109 and recce 109 versions I'd like to add, and maybe a quick 190A1/2 for some for some BOB missions.

So, do we have some reference files out there on how to create a clone of an aircraft and edit it?

BTW, just as an example of what I mean:
A 109E4 with the MG-FF/M's replaced by MG-17's with 500rds each is pretty darn close to an E-1.
And E-7 with the MG-FF/M's replaced by MG-17's with 500rds each is an E-8.
An F-4 with the MG-17's removed is an F5 recce fighter.

Not that what you want to do is bad, but I'm pretty sure ammo is not the only difference among early variants, there is performance to look into which I think is a pretty complicated procedure.

In this case, not really. There is a 74 horsepower difference from the 109E1 to the stock 109E4. The E1 as delivered was not fitted with as much armor as the E4, however pilot accounts from JG26 for example seem to indicate that the E1's were brought as close to E4 standard as they could manage.

Personally I think that what I've suggested is perfectly acceptable and reasonable, especially when we consider some of the other things that have made it into IL-2! (Lerche!) Maybe for missions involving a recon run, the recon aircraft shouldn't be identical to its escorts, even if that only means changing the guns?
