INSTALLING SKINS WITH VISTA.
#1

Hi,

Just not sure about installing skins and skin packs.Previously when I was on XP I had no probs at all .I notice now that I'm using Vista Home Premium some downloads go in no problem at all, then for no reason others just won't and I'm using exactly the same process each time which is extracting the skins with WinRAR.
Another question I had was how do I install multiple aircraft skin packs, an example "The best skins for il-2".Do you just put the whole pack straight into the skins folder,if this is the case I've tried this and it does'nt work for me.
Is there a trick that I'm missing, some help would be great.

Ceege1.

ceege1, first disable UAC it did the trick for me, ...not able to download content or files? ..strange..try doing that with Vista option 'Administrator.'..secondly, use 7Zip as a subtitute to extract RAR files,..now I've never had problems with manually importing skinpacks, though I had problems in the past with changing values in con.fig file but switching off UAC did the trick, hope it works for you too, btw to make sure you put the Skin 'bitmap files' in the correct file , I open the skin map and select all the 'naked' bitmap files and place them in it, pc asks to overwrite and I acknowledge, ...done

oh , sorry but made a wrong advice concerning bitmap files, ...afther opening skin map open the specific aircraft file you want to change [ list begins with the A5M4 plane] ..in here you can drop the naked bitmap files, when you have a complete skinpack with a map called 'Skins' just put it in the map Paintschemes, it overwrites .... again sorry for wrong advice
