There are a number of compilations out there such as AC_INSTALLER_v2_3 or AAA_MOD_PACK_v2_6
It would be nice to have a listing of the planes or mods and thier version in the pack.
I keep worrying I am installing an OLDER version of a plane mod over AC_INSTALLER_v2_3 mods

so this is not enough ?

anyhow .... AC installer contains data for all planes (up to last published mod) so it is essential to have latest version installed . It is independent installation so you can't mess it up with installation of any plane mod .... because it uses unique file structure .

Thank you for your reply
I am respectfully going to explain my difficulty ( I may make up some files to illustrate my point) and hope you take it as such.

As an example - I go to (The link is inoperative) and I install the AAA AIRCRAFT MOD PACK Version 2.7 for IL-2 1946 and it includes the B17G.

But what version? it so happens that the correct update is listed below it but not everyone does this so hypothetically I could install the AAA AIRCRAFT MOD PACK Version 2.7 and then install B17G v6.1 and overwrite a newer with an older. (again respectfully I know this particular plane has the update LISTED below) but if the update had the following simulated listing

B17D v1.5
B17E v1
B17F v4
B17G v6.2

I would know I should apply the B17G v6.3 but NOT the B17G v6.1.
It wouldn't take much effort to update the list as new versions came out

again sorry, just a suggestion NOT a criticism, I am appreciative of all AAAs work and have donated to show it.

... ok, i see what you mean and i really understand all the troubles and doubts new users may have regarding all those mods here .

This whole mod heaven is nearly one year old , it went from hundred or so users to 13000 in really short period of time . Second thing is that all this mod business is still in developing phase and no one can be sure how next mod would look like ( structure wise) and which new files/folders will it introduce. So its hard to keep things well organized and pre-planned when you don't know all the facts at the time .

I'm sure that you are aware that all major mod production/publishing/forum organization/administration lies really on just a few guys who are doing this in their own free time so you can't expect all aspects of it to be perfect . It's really matter of priority to which aspect will they commit most of their attention ... i'm sure most of users would agree that new mod production should be no. 1 on the list and all the rest can wait

I really suggest to all new users to take their time and learn how mods work , which files do what and really the whole structure of mods . It's really like a school , you can't just come and join advanced class , you need to go from first grade up . I really am sorry for all of you that wasn't here from beginning cos understanding of mods would be much easier . We are really months a way from any strict (final) standard regarding mods structure and installation so ....

hope that explains how and why things are here ....at the present time
