Your ship(s) will shoot at any ennemy object in its range. If you have set ennemy ground objects the only way is to set theme to NONE (neutral) instead of RED or BLUE allegeance in the properties object box. But don't expect IA planes to shoot at a neutral object if you have plan to do so.
Hope this helps
Tovarich, JARMOPOWER, and yes you too Boris from the insignia thread here, I had a hilarious time learning about how ships will shoot at things.
I wanted to make a DF map with land and sea objects so I could practice online with my friends, takeoffs, landings, bombing, torpedo runs, etc.. I didn't want to be restricted to airplane choice via Co-Ops. I wanted to be able to choose any airplane I wanted.
After finally figureing out how to make a "home base" at Caen, I wanted to put a carrier out at sea for carrier takeoffs and traps.
Finally figured out how to choose a stationary ship carrier and place it but,...I couldn't choose it to start from. Hmmm. I was surprised that I could land on it....and catch a trap wire tho. Very interesting !
Then I figured out how to put a "home base" on top of it but chose "none" as color. Couldn't select it (again) as a starting place. But it looked nice firing its guns. It was the Lexington.
Went back again to thinking (read: pushing mouse and whatnot buttons). Brought the carrier up in FMB and this time chose a color other than "none".
Now I could add "all airplanes" to it and
even start from it.
So far so good.
I'd start on the carrier, and it was still firing its guns. Cool !
I don't know diddly about setting targets (yet).
Chose a B-25 to try and simulate Doolittle's takeoff. Found that regardless of choice of airplane you still get "chocks" that must be released.
All was well and sighed in relief. I was getting there.
Not
Next time started at Caen and could hear shells coming in and pock-marking the runway, buildings, etc..
Where in the world were they coming from ? Cycled thru to the carrier and saw it still shooting.
Now,.....finally getting to my point.
I put the carrier to "sleep".
No more shelling of the land base.
But my question really is....as seen in the following picture, is the first box for hours and the second box for minutes ?
Once I set those numbers in, the carrier went to "sleep" and wasn't shelling anymore.
This is just a sample for this post's purpose.
Okay,..to finish up: I was on a roll last night and was adding a whole bunch of different size (class) carriers, even IJN ones.
Two of my carriers were duking it out with each other ! ! !
hock:
Fergot to put them to sleep but it was hilarious as I was sitting on one deck watching....until a shell took off my one wing
Lesson learned: Make sure of your colors
before you put a home base on top of them
Have a great day !
I gettin' there.
