[MOD] MiniMap_b2 (Updated 9/17/2008)
#16

No problem Fly_zo! Smile

I've posted a new beta version (MiniMap_b2). The main thing the new version does is fix a bug that could cause your game to lock up under certain conditions. If you installed the previous beta version (MiniMap_b1), you need to download and install this new version as soon as possible.

This version doesn't address the conflict that Fly_zo found between this mod and the 6DOF mouse mod. The conflict is caused by both mods using one of the same java files. For these types of conflicts, there is really no solution other than to try to merge the mods somehow. Maybe something for a future date.

I did do a quick look at the files involved in Fly_Zo's map icons mod, and I don't think there are any conflicts between his mod and this one.

Great mod.

For those wondering about the minimap border etc. The minimap graphic is stored as tga file someplace and can be edited with photoshop to anything you like providing it fits certain chracteristics of the graphics file.

I think this is waht it is as Ive experimented with a few different borders and now have no borders.

Works fine but for one thing- I can't figure out how to scroll around the map. This used to be done by holding down the left mouse button and moving the cursor.

With the mod, you scroll by holding down the middle button, which is normally the scroll wheel.

Done deal Fireball.

Your mod has saved the lives of many of my comrads as seconds count when leading my flight. Now I can enjoy a toast of vodka with them after we land (actually we have a toast before we take off too making the mod even more important.).

I'm using Vista Home Premium- Holding down the scroll wheel activates some sort of "multiple window desktop" feature. No scrolling around map for me with this mod- oh well.

Can you assign the middle mouse button (MB3) to a button on your controller. This is what I do.

I have the M-MB assigned to B5 of my combat stick and use the mouse stick on my X52 throttle to move the map around while holding B5.

I also program a button to activate the minimap command twice as this will center your plane view instantly on the map.

It wouldnt make sense to move the map with the wheel as the wheel only goes one direction (up and down).

Actually. Ive assigned the mouse wheel on the throttle to zoom in and out with the wheel.

What would be ideal and only for my setup with freetrack is not to need the mouse over the map to move it around with the mouse. But my CH control manager automatically places the mouse in the top right of my screen with the click of B5 also.

With the small icons mod and the no map border mod, this zoom mod is the icing on the cake.

You know I was just thinking... the map worked a lot like the radiator does... one click all the way through the cycle.. but with this mod ( which is great.. I'll have to get used to it.. but it is great.. ) you changed it so that you can separate the zoom..... basically you took what was once a unidirectional command and made it bi directional..

I am wondering if perhaps.. The radiator functions can be modified the same way thereby giving us bi directional radiator controls. As you know now we have to cycle through the entire spectrum.. but if the controls could be made bi directional at least better radiator control could be achieved with buttons... (an axis wold be great... but Id rather have an axis for splitting the engines myself... I mean if it could be done.. )

Hi Fireball.

Do you think is it possible to increase minimap size ?
I find that it is too small.

THX.
