I've just watched a wonderful BBC-documentary on Operation Jericho, the air raid by the RAF on the prison of Amiens, presented by Martin Shaw. Wonderful! Has anyone ever made a mission out of this? I know someone made one in 2006, but it isn't situated in winter, as it should be. I have no doubt the 2006-mission is first class, but a winter map would be perfect. And....we now have Typhoons to give cover.

Yes, there was a mission - for online combat - published by the old 8th Fighter Squadron based on this. I flew in their version of the mission about two years ago or so with pilots from several squadrons. It was hosted by 8FS_Bulau who now belongs to another squadron.

I will send a Private Message to him and ask for him to take a look at this thread. Perhaps he can help you.

Hello Aragorn1963, this was posted a loooong time ago at M4T.

Not sure if it will play in a up to date version of the sim but it is offline single player mission, probably the one you refer to.

There could by now be a winter version of whatever map was used in a modded install. You could just alter the summer vesion to winter in the mis file if that is the case.

Tried the mission in my install of Dark Blue World after adding this to the mis file:

MAP normandy/GW_norm2_load.ini

This is a modded version of the map set in January.

Worked fine for me. :wink:

Hi Fireskull, thank you for contacting Pete about this mission. And Pete, thank you for you quick response. That mission is indeed the one I was refering to. And I will alter it to a winter map. Thank you for explaining. The BBC-documentary really inspired me. Such a great story. Thank you both, gentlemen!

Edit: it works. Changed the summer map into winter. The Tempests escort into Typhoons, the Bf 109s into Fw 190s and some other minor changes. This mission was already near to perfection.

Since I know this forum is mainly occupied by extremely generous and good-natured people I dare to request the following. Some time ago Airfix, the famous British modelling company, launched the 1/24 Mosquito NFII/FB VI. It also includes markings for the Mosquito FB VI, of 487 Sqdn RNZAF, No 140 Wing, 2 TAF, RAF Hunsdon, Hertfordshire, as used in Operation Jericho, 18 feb 1944. On the box of this lovely model is an absolutely GORGEOUS painting of two Mosquito's attacking the prison of Amiens. Could somebody who bought this model perhaps make a scan of this painting and place it in this thread? There are many nice paintings of Operation Jericho, but this one really takes the biscuit. A cheeky request, I know, but who dares wins. Sometimes, that is.
