Multiple monitors
#1

Hey guys

I've aquired a second monitor for my rig and I'm failing in setting it up to run dual monitor.

What I would like to do is either to have that monitor showing 45 degrees to my right side or to have it as a monitor to run other software on while running IL-2 and other software for that matter.

I have set it up so it now works in Vista, but the second monitor just goes black when I try to run any software, so I can't even use that for anything while playing.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Nope

I did all that, but is still blacks out monitor 2.

Now, I was able to run it in window mode but then I'd have an edge around my game, and that's not useful at all...

I'm running this as my monitor is limiting my resolution:

[window]
width=1280
height=1024
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=0
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0

And compare it to your setting:

[window]
width=1920
height=1200
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
ChangeScreenRes=0
FullScreen=1
DrawIfNotFocused=0
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0

page translated from spanish, has some funny translation errors but I think it carries the point across?

You have to do this in IL2FB.exe properties too:

I play with dual view at full screen at 1920*1200 or whatever other less resolution without problems.

Test it.

I have done that my friend... Cry

See? mine is in danish, but it's clearly the one I need... As you can see my multimonitor works fine with the second desktop over there on the right...

Rather small on the resolution, as I didn't enhance it, but you get the idea of it... you don't understand danish anyway... (I assume)

To no avail... still blacks out on me...

And from in-game:

The game is indeed up, and I see the game itself, and the other monitor is blacked out, so clearly something is lost in translation somewhere along the way?

failure of the epic proportion I guess... oh well the monitor was a freebie anyway, might work for other stuff then...

Check this:

- Check Dual view is enabled in your graphic card menu.
- With instructions before (conf.ini and IL2FB.EXE properties) launch game in dual view.
- When game starts and the second screen goes to black, press Atl+Tab and go to desktop. Later press Alt+tab again and return to game.

Second screen should be ok now. Two screens: game in one, desktop, maps or TS in the second one.

Ahaaa... the Alt+tab did the trick.

I'd done everything else, this seems to work allright now

Thanks for the assistance!

Waiting for your reply I've installed my old drives on my system, so I now have 1293 GB of storage capacity, and if my 2 160GB "old" drives will work after a format I'll have 1613 GB.

That coupled with multi monitor setup has just made my day! Big Grin

Again, thanks a lot for the help. Hope someone else has found this useful as well
