Please , each engine sound = which aircraft ? help
#1

Hello,
Please, is there somewhere around info on which sound engine file belongs to which aircraft ?
Need to increase and decrease some of the custom engine sound files volume and it is a nightmare
trying to figure out which engine sound belongs to which aircraft , for example PrattWhitney 1830 - 2600 - 2800 , Merlin , Packard Merlin , Wright Cyclone , Mercury , Jumo 211 , Jumo 216 , Hispano , Griffon , DB603 , DB 605 , BMW801 , Allison , Sabre , R - 2800 ? , R - 3350 ?
I know some of them but it would be nice to know exactly all of them .
If someone knows even more engine names to aircraft used in game , that would be even better .
Thank you

Just use wikipedia bro, it has tonnes of useful shit. For example google B-25 wiki or P-51 wiki and it will come up with all the different variants of aircraft and exactly what type was used in each model.

Maybe he means about the file name in the samples folder... which file is related to which aircraft?

Google is my friend but I should have been more specific , yes just like MrOblongo said , engines names files specific to the game aircrafts .
Some of my custom engines sound files which are mix of also other than SoundMOD 093 engine files which are in question :
- Allison and Allison_tb ?
- Ha45
- M62
- M82
- Merlin and Packard Merlin sound files ? are those same or different aircraft ?
- R 2800_tb ?
- sakae ?
- vk107 ?

Thanks

I'd sure like to know this as well. Some of my aircraft have no engine sound at all and I would like to be able to replace them or adjust them at least.

Thank you vpmedia for unbeliveble nice and amazing MAP Mods Smile

Let's say there are for example three sound mods
1. major sound pack Mod like 0.93
2. SG2 Wassy's SFX sound files
3. Jaffaem's incredible sound pack

I have a mix of all those .

What I wish to know is what names they used for engines and to which aircraft ?
What's the difference between Allison and Allison_tb ?
What is "sakae" name of engine and for what aircraft ?
What's this " _tb " thing means ?
M62 ?
M82 ?
etc .............................................................................................

Hardball will likely stick with exactly real mames of aircraft engines but some those
sound mod files for game have sound files names created specifically by authors of their sound files .
Sure I can go and try changing some engine volume until I know it's the right engine file but then I can and will make mistakes and wrongly adjusting another three different engine files making it frustrating task .

I hope at this point ppl will now understand what I am politely asking about sound files names

Look , for what i've discovered thoose days :

motor.Allison.prs is for all P-39 and P-40 series, dont know if it's used for P-38 aswell

motor.Packard-Merlin.prs is used for P-51\Mustang series

Merlin ( i think is called motor.Rolls-Royce-Merlin.prs ) is for Hurricanes and Spitfires

Bmw is for focke wulf engines apart for Jumo213 that is for Fw.190 D

motor.Sabre.prs is the engine of Tempest

mmmmm

Pratt&Whitney are for USNavy aircraft : early version for Wildcats, the R-2600 should be used for F4U

(but Jafaem mixed something in here: in his .prs R-2600 sound are used for R-2800 also)

DB-600 series are for all messerschmitt engines ...

The thing that makes the sound mod a bit more of a mystery for me is that ok..., the Merlin is for the Spit, the Packard is for the 51, the DB's are for the 109's etc... but there are a lot more aircraft in this game than there are accompanying sound files, so anyone would reasonably assume that certain aircraft groups share engine sound files and that's fine, but when 20-30% of ones sound files don't work correctly, one starts to search for alternative means to overcome that short coming and an obvious solution perceivably is to replace the offending sound files with ones that work, hence the desire to know which files pro-grammatically belong to which aircraft .

Shit I'm all out of breath... Tongue

Yes me too have same problem: some planes sound crappy even if I've merged many sound mod looking for the best for everyone, at the end still about 30% of my flyns session have no-good aircraft sound

Thank you Gambinobross
that is better than nothing , I appreciate your comparing preset files with engine sound files ,
it's already helpful for me with some files .
Which German aircraft is with Jumo 211 engine sound files ? , you mentioned Jumo 213 for FW190 D but Jumo 211 ? it should be also for FW 190 but which one , TA- 152 ? those files sound are somewhat similar and harder to tell which belongs to what .
Do anyone have any idea what aircraft have engine sound files named " sakae " ?

Yeah , I completely agree , I wish there was more info provided with sound mods as to which files are covering which aircraft , that would make plain simple engine volume decrease and increase or replacing engine sound file with different new one a piece of cake .
Now it is a pile up of sound files and hard to tell which one exactly belongs to which aircraft .
I am not crying about sound mods , those are fantastic immersion improvement just wishing for more detailed info provided with sound packs .
Thank you all 8)

Jumo 211 it's primary Stuka, also He-111 and Ju-88 in old version SFX and soundmod; in SFX 0.8 last two have standalone preset

Hi SG2_Wasy Smile

Thank you for a lot of very nice work with engines and other sound mods , thank you for clearing up Jumo 211 question , we're getting closer and closer moving forward .
I know that " griffon " engine sounds are from Jaffaem sound pack but what is " sakae " ? engine sound ?
I found " sakae " in your SFX 0.8 sound pack , please, what aircraft is using it ?
Also your sound files have Allison and Allison_tb , a few other engines sound have this " _tb " thing , what is difference for engines with _tb and without _tb and for which aircraft they are used ?
Slowly but surely we will find the answers ........................................................... :?:

Thank you

One way I am trying to figure out engine sound is by removing preset file for aircraft in question making guess and when loading game and getting no sound for that aircraft I know that's the preset file and can look inside this preset file as to which sound files it is using .
A little bit frustrating process but so far no other way around .
Because after installing numerous custom engine sounds for example Mustang aircraft , I have now probably some engine sound files that are not used anymore .
I just removed in to back up folder all preset files that have something to do with Merlin , Packard Merlin , Allison , Allison_tb and by restoring each by each at the time will find out which preset is giving sound back with my best engine sound that I wish to use and will keep that preset folder .
Then , I can also decrease and increase engines volume to right balance .
Yeah , the process of finding engine sounds relative to many different aircraft suck but I'll take my time

imho you cant mix the prs files of the different soundmod versions because each needs its own buttons file which associates the prs name with the engine

my method is:
1. lets say Im flying with the F4U-1A and I dont like the sound
2. I open Hardballs acviewer and check the plane, it has a P&W R-2800 engine
3. I go to the presets folder and find that there's a motor.PrattWhitney_R-2800_Series.prs (0.93) so I know which samples to mod...
