Dear AAA,
I have noticed for a day now that the threads for my Objects Photo Directory Parts (Download)
Parts 1 to 5 have vanished.
They are not in the Buildings Skins section anymore and have looked all over the site.
What was the problem with this work?
Why have they been taken off from the buildings skins section?
Are you doing something with my projects to make it easier for people to download?
Do you want me to put up ONE thread with ONE link to all the parts?
Just want to know what's going on.
This work took me a long time and its great for mission builders and map makers.

I have a feeling that someone is trying to wield their authority....
I have seen a couple of people warned about using external links....but i haven't seen any particular rule like this being laid down for all to see.
Whether it is just certain sites they don't approve of or what I don't know....(does anyone?)
I have been using my own upload/download site at 4shared since I started producing mods...and also for my missions and object skins etc. and have never been warned by anyone...
Sometimes those who are supposed to be looking after a certain section...like the mission section...you can PM them all you want to put a mission up and nothing happens..
I wish someone could make it clear what the policy is..... and why!
Yes, it would be nice to have the policy explained here.
I have supplied links for approval, but nothing has happened so I have not put any direct links at all. Which makes it difficult for people who wants to D/L what you have done.
Unsure exactly why or whom removed the threads, but it could be the incorrect location of the postings perhaps? I'm not entirely sure and am inquiring in the restricted Moderator/Admin section for you...
A couple of quick points of note;
(The link is inoperative)
(The link is inoperative)
Usually the official "Download" sections are restricted to AAA hosted files, this can cause the threads to be removed if they are posted there.
Hi RAF Magpie,
Firstly, I used 4shared.com as Fabian Fred had been using the same site for a long time and it works quite well here in Thailand.
I as Fred does hate Filesfront as I can never download anything from that.
Secondly I created these documents for users within AAA and not the other site M-T at all as if you had downloaded some of the parts the style and colour scheme of the documents only suit the AAA site and obviously AAA for me is the only site for MODS world wide.
I chose Skins /Buildings as this was the only really suitable area for this project as it was for static. ini objects only.
I do have future projects coming up besides static.ini objects such as stationary.ini (ship pack etc)
I would have put those in another section as they are not static.ini objects.
If AAA wants to create an AAA official download / sticky for these parts perhaps if you want to join them up as one feel free. I broke up the original document as it was quite a large file size around 90 Mb or so.
Thirdly I am highly annoyed that I have finally given something back to the AAA community after endless downloads of mods from my part and this is a very useful document for all mission builders and map makers a like.

... well, it wasn't me , but Magpie is right no threads with external d/l links are allowed in download sections ( only official AAA links) ... exceptions are external d/l links with patches for AAA map mods , which i'm seriously considering to ban in the future
all such threads should be posted in beta mods section ... or missions/maps discussion section in this case
i say again , it wasn't me ..... but i support the moving action

Hi Fly zo,
Well,
There was now moving of the download links they were completely wiped out after one week or so.
Why were they not taken off a day after I put them on?
A skin to me is a skin of an aircraft. I did read tonight about the Skins Discussion section. Once again I was thinking aircraft pretty much in that area only not related.
Now a question to you if AAA wants to make an official download of this project would you PM me for my open link that covers all parts 1 to 5 on one web page for download (the parts are too big to send via e mail) and AAA can do what they want with the parts. As an example AAA official parts or an AAA single document. AAA can then place the download where ever you like as long as I (farang65) am mentioned regarding the works.
As I said before I do have future projects regarding this document.
I am just keen to get this project back on so people can use it.
Cheers

....recovering of thread will take some time , until we learn all reasons for its removal
as for submitting it to AAA please use channels Magpie has provided ( PM Mr. Jolly like with any mod ....with d/l links and clear info/ install instructions ) .... if it get accepted you'll receive further instructions .

A question in the same vain to admin: how do I go about to post direct links to download campaigns? I have several in the works.
I used to give direct links to M4Today, but those were removed. Then I linked to M4Today in general, but not directly to the file, and that stayed. I tried to get filefront links approved by PM-ing but nothing happened, I'm afraid.
What is the policy on campaigns and missions? The same as other material I guess: but in this case the system isn't glitch-free.
Just want to do the right thing.
Don't want to be a pest here, but what's the rationale behind this policy: to stop people linking to illegal or harmful (virus etc) material or what?
@ farang65 :
ok i moved thread in question in map mods discussion section .... even made a sticky out of it
hope that is settled now
