'Sky'was the typical colour used for squadron code markings but Medium Sea Grey, White were also used. Squadrons would have also used custom mixes during front line service so codes are always open to interpretation. Smile

I'm not sure if anyone has noticed or mentioned this, but referring to the picture of the 2-bladed Spit, with stationary airscrew, I think the blades are feathered incorrectly, as the Merlin engine spins anti-clockwise from head-on. The blades in the picture are set for an engine that spins the other way.
Thought you ought to know.
