Dont know if this is supposed to be here, but are there any aircraft that are slightly more modern than WWII? i.e. 60's and 70's?

Hmm going with my gut instinct here but 1960 -1946 = 14

thats 14 years from what your flying in Il2 now!

lets try 1946.618 - 1946 = 0.618

0.618 = Perfect number

Perfect Number = No addition of time required

No addition of time required = wait until 2060

2068 - 2008 = 60

thats 60 more years until we will get to that.

and by my calculations in 2068 you will be 78

78 - 60 = 10

10 = your age

So live long little one!

most little kids here always want the more modern planes and if they want them then they should get CFS 3 and mod it or buy a modern air combat game. not post on a mod site that wants to make historically accurate WWII sim

What the ......

Any way back to the question, NO there is no mod aircraft from them periods. All IL2 aircraft mod or official range from mid 1930's up to 1946.

Most people who play IL2 are ww2 buffs and so it's fairly unlikely your see any new aircraft past 1946, but saying that you might get some one making stuff for the Korea War as most equipment was of ww2 origin. Also remember that the IL2 engine is over 7 years old now and would need a alot of new code, if not a complete game engine rebuild to be able to even start moding them periods.

If you want to fly more modern stuff I suggest LockOn, but there is a flightsim based around the Vietnam war but can't remember what its called? Also there is a Korea War flightsim in the works based on the BOB - Storm of War engine.

As far as more modern a/c go, I'd like to see the MiG-15/17 and F-86 "Sabre", and maybe Yak-23 in the game (and I would gladly trade all of the 1946 fiction-jets for those two). Otherwise, I'm pretty content with Il-2 being strictly a WWII sim.
Though, if the AAA modders should decide for some reason to expand the timeline which the sim covers, I hope they'll add WWI planes. Albatrosses and Rolands for all! Big Grin

Guys, please remember, "Service With A Smile", lets keep it polite and happy. There are no plans for modern aircraft at the moment. As stated the reasons of the game being old is not the main reason. For me, personally i would rather go backwards in time for aircraft. Perhaps some additions of early post war aircraft that entered service just short of the wars end like the Contra rotating Spitfire the F series. Some Korean war Aircraft maybe possible as i am also a fan of the Mig 15 and Saber.

Yes, I'd much rather have WWI relics than the rocket planes we have nowadays. If I want to see some of those I can go the airport; how many Nieuports, SPADs, or Pfalzs can you find today? :wink:
