mod idea-parachute supply containers

Might it be possible to mod a container with parachute that a Ju52, C47 etc could drop to simulate an airlift/resupply?

Hi,
For C47, you can choose 5xCargo and you can drop using the same key as to drop a bomb
What I don't know is how you could assign a dropzone as a mission target :?:

Any possibility of getting cargo for Ju52?

Put the Recon Target over the area you want, and adjust the size as needed. Presto, dropzone.

1. Cargo parachutes had different colors from regular parachutes (The allies, at least, color-coded their chutes. For that matter, German pilots over the Reich apparently had yellow parachutes. So different colored parachutes would be fun.)

2. You could just have a "loaded" option for the various cargo planes, so that they fly as if loaded with cargo which can't be airdropped. Possibly, you could have different cargo mass and balance as different loadouts.

The problem, of course, is that you'd need a new slot aircraft for all of these things, since you're messing with flight models/damage models. Gotta make sure that some twit doesn't screw up the online experience by flying a modded up C-47.

That would be cool. Even though Ft. Stewart and Ft. Benning are nearby, I do have the need for a good beer drop. It was done in Vietnam to squads in the field occasionally- enjoying a nice warm budweiser from time to time along with beans and bullets, so I know you guys could handle it too. If you can place the drop within 100 meters of my house, then I know you would be good enough for a combat drop. I would prefer brightly colored chutes for easier location at night- maybe with a lightstick, but maybe a more subdued color for stealth during the day. Dont want somebody to take it. Up to you. I would really appreciate it!

I remember flying the c-47 in the old AAA on the Ubi server and dropping parachutes simulating the 82nd raiding the enemy airbase, but that goes over as well as wingtip smoke. Literally. Fun, but pointless increase in lag.

Maybe a coop mission or something would be a fun place to be able to get a mission completion for something like a resupply run with an escorted flight of a few c-47s. And then getting home alive against AAA or ground fire. Good luck with the mod. Lately I have been very happy to see all of the forward progress with modding. What about a hostile STOL in and out simulating stuff like our current engagements? Sweaty palm cargo flying!

I was just kidding about the beer drop, but if it happens ill give coordinates Smile

S~ guys. Keep it up!

The C-47 already has containers as an option in the load-out.. it`s the Ju52 that doesn`t Sad it would be nice to have... but as it`s a change of `weapon` then I didn`t think it allowed ?

To get cargo aircraft to drop - just set a GA way-point (but DON`T set it to a specific target).. if dropping paras then you might have to set the GA point a bit further back to get them to drop on target.

AFAIK... German paras would drop with only `light` equipment and would have the `heavy` stuff dropped by container.. seems strange not to have this otion as a load-out

this type of container would be great for early war fallshirmjager operations!

It would also be great to get the paratroopers / supply crates to disembark more quickly from the aircraft. At the moment a string of paras/crates, covers a large area when deployed. whilst in reality you would want them out in as short a time ass possible.

just my thoughts, but i agree more cargo options would be great.

By the same token I have an issue when dropping parachutes whereby 3 times as many troops jump out as are loaded! Additionally, 3 troops jump out simultaneously causing their chutes to collide and the troops to plummet to their deaths. Anyone who can shed some light on this will win one free internet.

You have unlimited ammo selected by chance...?

I've seen that unusually high number of paratroopers being dropped as well, with limited ammo being set. This was in a co-op mission online, one player flew a C-47 and dropped paratroopers only to be astounded by dozens of the paras being dropped. So many that he was unable to turn away from enemy lines and dropped a bunch of them in a long line right into an enemy artillery position, which promptly opened up on the exposed troops on the ground. Reminded me of the ill fated drop in Holland (of "A Bridge Too Far" fame). It was like having a whole squadron of planes dropping paras at once, but this was only one plane.

I wrote it off to an obscure bug or mod conflict, but haven't tried recreating the incident since then.

Nope, this happens online too. And I know its exactly 3 times the number as for example in the Ju52 if I select 18 paratroopers, 3 paratroopers jump out 18 times giving me a total of 54 troops! I might upload a screenshot of thisin action. Its quite hilarious watching them all jump out like some sort of clown car

Choosing 5xCargo is the best.
