In Flight Music as Radio Broadcast
#1

Hope this is the correct section to post this as I have broken my head trying to figure out what the appropriate section would otherwise be, there being no dedicated section for discussions of music on the forum.

Anyway, while I know one can play in-flight music while flying, it isn't really very realistic, so I was wondering if there is any way of making it sound as if it were being broadcast over a radio, with fading in and out, garbled sounds every now and then etc, something like a pilot would have heard over his radio had he been in the air.

This would probably also necessitate a sort of hotkey to 'tune in' into a radio broadcast and then have it turned off once combat starts.

This would be wonderfully atmospheric if one chooses old period WWII music to use.

But not knowing a thing about making mods, I thought it might be an interesting idea to float. Many mission do, after all, encompass lots of flying time where nothing much happens except flying from waypoint to waypoint.

I prefer to use radio chatter of pilots conversations:

This is BBQ's Speech Pack.

There are several "radio chatter" and "in-flight music" additions for the IL-2 series, going back several years. None of which require a mod of any sort, just follow the directions on the package you're interested in, or create your own ... I ran across one that was all modern heavy metal instead of period music.

Lots of possible additions in this one place, not to mention all the others out there if one had the desire to find them: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php? ... oads&c=586 (pay special attention to the "randomizer" utility)
