Potenz, thanks for working on this. I'm still having problems with cyrillic letters cropping up. I'm using EnjoyR's Patch for DGen (v 4.31) which includes DGen.exe v.4.0.8.7.

Some of the special characters for German pilot names would be replaced with cyrillic. British ranks appear correctly in English so far.

I was having an unrelated conflict that stopped DGen from recognizing the Ta-152C in a dynamic campaign (I'd get a 'beep' error before being kicked out of the campaign), so I've gone back my un-modded version of '46 for now. I had so many mods installed that I don't know which one was causing this error, so I'll install them again, one at a time, until I find the problem. If I find any more language errors in the process, I'll post them. If/when that happens, I'll e-mail you my DGen file.

Thanks again for looking into this for us.

I just installed SFX_0_6.exe, and have the same problem. German pilot names in the squadron roster are spelled with a cyrillic "d" (Д) instead of an "umlaut a" (

Potenz, the update you sent me for DGen 4047 is working fine so far. I've got JustFlight's Battle Over Europe, Ian Boys' Ostfront loaded, as well as EnjoyR's patch v4.31 for those add-ons, and all the campaigns I've tried to generate from those add-ons are working again, with briefings in English.

The German names in the roster and mission briefings are still getting Cyrillic special characters instead of German, but I don't know what file is doing the substitution. The names are correct in the Germans.dat and Germans_ru.dat files, and they show up spelled correctly in the Squadron.dat files in the campaign folders, so the switch is happening later. Looking in the MessageEn.dat and MessageRu.dat, I didn't see anything that would cause the substitution either, but I didn't look in detail. It's not a big problem, just a little annoying.

I've since gotten the 60% load crash, but that was caused by one (or more) of the additional aircraft I added after your fix. Your work is fine, the problem is between my screen and my keyboard. I've gone back to an earlier saved version of the game, so it may be a while before I can test your fix any further.

Thank you again for all the work you did to fix this. That was a lot of files that you had to go through, and I appreciate it.

Glad to hear that, i will wait for your last feedback to release it as an update, as you are my only beta tester.

for the 60% crash just reinstall the ac installer.

Sorry to be away from this for a while. I'm juggling several versions, and wrestling with a CTD memory error that predates installing the SoundMod.

I've been able to generate campaigns successfully for all nationalities and all campaigns in the BoE and Ostfront add-ons. The only other glitch I've found is that the U.S. ranks are in Cyrillic. The file C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Missions\Campaign\US\rank_ru.properties needs to be changed to have the same content as C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Missions\Campaign\US\rank.properties (just cut and paste.)

Everything else is in English, and test generating a Berlin campaign for the Ta-152C was successful. While I haven't tried all the aircraft combinations, that spot check tells me that you've made a good update for the new DGen, Potenz. I'll keep messing with it, but unless/until someone else finds a problem, I think this is good to go for general release.

Thanks again Potenz. Enjoyr has a new version of his patch out (v 4.4), but it looks like it just has some minor corrections to a couple of campaigns without changing the DGen version, so I think this will work with it, too. I'll post if I find any problem.

I'm running with Enjoyr patch v 4.31, Battle Over Europe v1.00, and I've installed the Ostfront update for version 4.04m (there doesn't seem to be a separate patch number for Ostfront listed in the ReadMe).

Hello,

I am very interested in the work you are doing here with getting the sound mod to not change the English text to Russian in IL-2. My question is this: do we know what file it is that gets modified or overwritten in the first place? Is there a way to reverse engineer the sound mod to figure out exactly what is happening in the first place? Maybe you already know these answers and I'm such a newbie that I haven't found out yet. Okay, I guess that's all. I would like to help you try to figure out a universal way to keep the words English as there could be many thousands of different combinations of installs to fix. It may be helpful to know that I installed the files you have available (original sound mod english fix + the BOE specific one) on top of IL-2 '46 + BoE + Channel Front campaign(s) + sound mod 0.93.

yes i know the exact files that must be changed, but the diferents upgrades are beacuse of diferents campaing generators and addons, and the root of this problem is that the il2.exe modded is the russian one, so this why after installing the sound mod or mod activator the game recognize as default language russian, and as il2 doesn't have in the manu a option to change laguage this is the only way to change the language back to english.

So if the il2fb.exe is the file that changes the language to Russian, couldn't we just swap out that exe with a backed up copy from the original install and have that fix it? Or will swapping the .exe cause the sound mod to not work? I know there has to be a way to fix this without modifying the many many files. My occupation deals with particular pieces of software and how they interact with each other and if I have learned one thing, it's that you can get an executable to do whatever you want it to. I am by no means a software engineer, so I wouldn't know how to go in and muck with the exe or anything. Anyway, those are my thoughts for now.
