QMB config ini lines if you like?
#1

put these in your config ini if you have those maps and missions using those map. Of course you have to change the numbers to suit your install. I only just now realized that I need these lines in order to use the QMB missions that have been posted.

That'll go a LOOONG way for your QMB to work properly, glad you figured it out.... :wink:

Wonder if there's a limit to how many map entries can be placed into the [quick] conf.ini section... I'm up to 38 entries now. So far they all seem to work.

Also ... where are the default QMB .mis files?

~~~
The neatest thing I have found is that you can have as many different varieties of missions on a single map as you like. Case in point: The Philippines map is huge, and offers a lot of room for different scenarios to be played out through QMBPlus missions. You can create a complete set of missions around Manila and Corrigidor with the intent of using 1941 plane sets (of course in QMB you can fly whatever you like); and you could create another set based on the Leyte Gulf battles later in the war, all on the same map. All it takes is careful naming of the entries to the (new, modded) [Quick] section in the conf.ini, matching the mission file names.
For example: You could use the conf.ini entry "Custom38=Manila" (the number after "custom" must be consecutive... I just used what I have to illustrate). Then name your missions "ManilaRedNone00.mis" (etc., etc.) for all the different Manila area missions.
Use the entry "Custom39=Leyte" and name the alternate missions "LeyteRedNone00.mis" (etc.)
In QMBPlus the map selection box will show "Manila" and "Leyte" as two different maps to select, even though the missions are all flown from the same (modded) Philippines map. Smile
Can we have your missions and set up? great idea by the way. Hope someone capitalizes on this.
Any idea what the summer version of Stalingrad is called? I can't seem to get it to show up. I can get either stgrad or stalingrad to show in QMB plus but having remamed the stalingrad_winter quicks to either stgrad... or stalingrad... etc, the mission launches into the winter version of the map.
I haven't got many missions of my own, just a few "None" missions that I create to buzz around various new maps. Check out the various QMBPlus threads for links to download packs of missions, several are out there and generally very well done.
As for the setup ... I'm not entirely sure what you mean. I've started with 4.08m and the UI, then added the release version of QMBPlus. Straight out of the box, so to speak. If you want my conf.ini "[quick]" section, I can post that on request.
Several folks have had issues for missions that work (for me) in the default "\MODS\QMBPlus\Missions\Quick" folders. By creating a "\Missions\Quick" folder and copying the missions there, those folks have been able to run their missions. I created that folder, but only use it to save missions I create in FMB, so they're not mixed in with the other folders (Multi, Single, etc.).
... the thought occurs to me that perhaps that user-created "\Missions\Quick" folder is necessary for QMBPlus operation for most folks. Why that might be, I simply don't know...
In conf.ini, you should have an entry in the "[quick]" section that looks something like :
  • Customxx=Stalingrad_Summer (where "xx" is the consecutive number for that entry in the map list) Note: the name can be anything you want it to be
Make sure your QMBPlus filenames for that map precisely match the name used in conf.ini (no spaces, and ensure capitalization is correct!):
  • 00.mis
Examples:
  • Stalingrad_SummerBlueStrike00.mis
    Stalingrad_SummerRedScramble00.mis
Check the .mis files for the correct map loading line for the summer Stalingrad map. should be:
  • MAP Stgrad/sload.ini
/edit/
That last section (correct map loading line in .mis file) above is more pertinent to Yardstick's issue. Stalingrad is a default map with it's own missions already included in the game. If you create missions for either of the new "target" types (strike and scramble), you will need to add the new entries as shown. If you recreate missions already in the game, I have no idea what the consequences may be (RedNone, BlueArmor, etc.).
this is what I have in conf.ini so far ... Bear in mind that some of my later entries do not correspond to specific maps but rather to mission sets on the same maps (Manilla and Leyte for example).
I haven't created much more than a few basic "None" maps to ensure things work and give me a chance to fly around on new maps (or different areas of new maps).
Thanks for the reply.
The problem I have is that I am trying to adapt some existing QMB missions from stalingrad_winter to the summer version of the map. I have done everything described above but I am not sure how the game distinguishes between summer and winter version of a map. I'm assuming they are two separate maps which I think means that stgrad/sload.ini (the map referenced in the stalingrad_winter QMB missions) is the winter version. If that is the case, does anyone know what the XXX/load.ini prefix is for stalingrad_summer?
Stalingrad Summer Map : Stgrad/sload.ini
Stalingrad Winter Map : Stgrad/load.ini
Notice the red "s"? That's the only difference telling the game to load the summer version of the Stalingrad map. Just double-checked and I have the correct line in my post above. Attention to detail, and all that. Wink
(sorry I missed this earlier ... you've probably got it figured out by now)
You have to add the [quick] section manually. Smile
Yardstick there is a little program I've found in Mission4today, whose name is il2svc.exe; to my negative points, i forgot the name of the author and a corrosive lazines makes me not to look for;
Thanks to the Author and forgive me.
Well, this program, I have tested, works also in mods, however, cannot be sure that it work in ALL instances; give it a try
Sorry, I did it again
il2svc.exe is a program that converts the season in both ways, summer to winter or winter to summer, working on maps and/or objects, very cleaver and easy to use.
Humberto G
P.S. so easy: The author is Petri Johansson, as per "About" in the program
