Does anyone agree that the gunner ports take like half of all polies?

I believe MOST of the stutter problem and need for ROF changes occur because of 40mm 20mm and 50.cal

What if we could remove the 20mm and 50.cal?

It would decrease the poly's too, no?

Would you consider adding barges and PT-boats to the ship category? Also British MTB's and MGB's?

The existing barges are only static objects.

Thanks for the advice. Like I said earlier, it needs alot more work. I'll see what I can do about the hull.

This should help you getting a decent hull geometry:

Thanks for the link, I'll look at it some more and see if it helps.

EDIT: Thanks, but to access much of that site, you have to register. Sad

Anyway, I have additional blueprints that I can reference.

TY anyway for the help.

The more ships the merrier, I say, but I share lowfighter's feelings here, we need more civil ships - freighters, liners, yachts, etc in this sim.
It's amazing how much a few civilian things help with immersion.
Whatever may be, I look forward to MANY more ships/objects for this sim.
I might even give it a go myself soon - I'm in the process of learning some 3DSMAX...

I dont know if anyone is interested but I created have a few RN cruisers which are based on a scaled/modified Kirov mesh and some RN destroyers which I have made for my own ammusement - courtesy of FC Ship Pack - that I would be willing to offer up to the community. I just need some help with the file creation process to create a separate "RN pack" from an "expert".

I have also reduced the number of smaller guns on them in line with the real weapons fit and it does make the game much more enjoyable as the FPS does not fall to an unplayable level when they open fire and you stand a fair ( and probably more realistic) chance of surviving the attack.....

It certainly makes for a good mission for the new JU88 torpedo bombers vs RN Mediteranean Fleet.

(I can't wait for the Bay of Biscay / Western Approaches map to be completed.)

Yes, this started as a project to see if I could recreate a RN cruiser for a semi historical scenario I was working on.

I have managed to produce a good representations of the "Town" and the "City" classes (my late uncle served in HMS Gloucester and survived her loss). I am working on a "county" class at the moment. RN heavy cruisers were all very similar in overall apperance, although the stack layout differed. Changing the overall scale of the mesh is not a big problem for static models but If I could find a simple way to adjust the hooks for the bow and stern waves I could reduce the size of the hull for the moving ships and attempt some of the light cruisers, Ajax etc.

I am currently working with and modifying items from within the meshes so it is quite challenging.

I don't know how to add pictures of them to this post as yet (still a bit of a noobie at this I'm afraid) but if someone could give me a clue I would be happy to post them.

I will need advice eventually on how to present them as stand alone items. (I have modified ships from FC's excellent pack at the moment just to try out my ideas).

To add photos, you must first upload the photos to photobucket or some other online gallery. Then you use the img tag above to add the link of the uploaded photo to your post as an image, rather than just an url link.
