Thank you Smile we will all together with this fantastic community make it better and better .
I love 3rdeye SmokeFire mod , but the very heavy thick smoke that I couldn't see through
was really bothering me .
It's like , you just lining up behind the enemy plane getting closer and closer firing short burst ,
plane is hit but far from being shot down but starting heavily smoking with that thick black smoke
that you can't see through completely losing your enemy plane direction for precious few seconds when someone else is already lining up in furball behind you , while you trying to figure out in this thick black smoke if you still flying straight, down or up and where is the enemy now .
I think that thick black smoke was too much not being able to see your enemy plane in front of you if you get pretty much close for better shot and with wind consideration and smoke beginning quick dispersion I believe we should be able to see it through .
I will do something about animated flames sequence and intervals but it's getting very touchy and feely.
Absolutely the worst nightmare is how to actually test all those changing animated fire sequences to get the really good one or better one ?
If you fly each time waiting to be shot down and set on fire , you will spend your adulthood just
waiting to get your plane to get hit and set on fire .
So I recorded back then track .ntrk where I can play , when plane is gettin' on fire and watching these intervals and sequences .
Problem with recorded tracks is that they're notorious for skipping frames here and there making it all really frustrating , same thing like with some flak burst missing here and there in .ntrk recordings .
I can play that track 10 times , 7 times it's gonna be perfectly the same and three times there will be
some difference with intermittent fire timing and intervals if the track will somewhat skip some of the frames .
I put inside this Fly!'s intermittent fire file one (1) thousand frames entries for animated fire to play just the sequence you can see in the .gif file above .
It was recorded with camera , that's why it is a darker picture making fire colors also look darker .
This game is like a Forrest Gump's box of chocolate " You Never Know what You're Gonna Get "
I'll try to do anything to make it better and any ideas and help is appreciated .
After watching countless guncam camera clips through many years , this plane fire on and off , coughing and again back on fire is more common than just plain simple continuous fire .
Especially planes that were a lot with intermittent fire were Japanese , it's almost hard to find any of theirs just getting one continuous fire instantly without any hic-up's , European fighter planes had less of those fire hic-up's.

We shall see what we can do together to make it better .
I also believe that computer rendering power can have impact on animated fire , with slower computers , there might be some skipping frames in fast action not be able to start exactly correct intermittent fire sequence , while high end computer should do without much of a problem .
I don't know how this all would play with any somewhat a little bit slower computers.
I am running Intel 2.4Ghz Quad Core and Nvidia 8800GT and it is doing just fine so far.

keep all your ground fire mod , all your new explosion mod , buffy's flak mod , keep any mod hat was not made for plane's smoke, fire,contrails otherwise it may conflict with this Mod by not being able to read animated fire or getting different smoke.

Yes Holy., I agree completely with you about big-black smoke behind damaged planes you fire and that's why I prefer your finding solution of "medium" damage fire in in-flight damaged planes. I hope you've not misunderstood about my point 4)- I was talking about CRASHED smoke planes because I randomly have the thin-long smoke column as default effect when they crash (I have randomly black-mushroom crash-smoke too about 50% of the two effect..very strange.(?).

1) About making a little more dark-red fire colour (less yellow-transparent fire colour) I think you can solve it working on .tga gamma of .tga fire textures you have put into the pakage.

2) I've seen your tremendous work about how many sequence-script lines you have put into DamageFire.txl and the sequence is very well done 8) intermitence rendering too: very realistic (me too I've seen jap fire sequence into real guncam clipWink you are right they're very short moment.... I just (for my exclusive taste) would like to add 1" live more in the intermittence if only jou could tell me wich lines I've to add/alter into Damagefire.txl file to obtain this effect.

3) In your .gif clip really there is a moment when fire "go away" mixing with the leaving smoke and I first I've think this was from "Hit_Effect mod" you told you still have running into your mod folder, so I added It too in my one but this was not the solution to obtain this great +effect at your sequence.Can you dig more about this? SUGGESTION: Ehinancing this secondary fire-behaviour (1-2 stripe of it leaving with the smoke and disappearing) I think it will add a big Confusedhock: Big Grin at your jet even good mod-packWink..

About resouces comsumption of Pc I think you can not be worried about: I think all of us who use Il2-game nowadays have a quite powerful CPU-GPU and memory to sbustain even 10 fire planes right nowWink... Good work and tell me If i can help in some manner, I'm at your disposal. regards.

Hi Falco ,
yeah I know exactly what you mean by crashed plane smoke .
It's true , smoke will start rising too high , I will take a closer look how to fix this
but not sure about the result or if I am even able to do it .
It's all pile up of numbers and as I've said before " very touch and feely " , you change one
thing gettin' different result with the other thing that you don't want .
I have some darker fire TGA's I will take a look and will change it for ya , so you can try to see if you like it and if not yet , we will continue to make it better .
I haven't done that much , full credit really goes to 3rdeye and Fly! for giving me the toy to play with .
1 thousand added script lines for fire frame work should be enough because majority of planes will
explode in short period of time anyway :wink:

Falco , that .gif file you're talking about is slower bacause of .gif software , why I don't know but that's why you see the fire more detailed longer and with rich colors .
The same sequence when playing my track is a bit faster .
First I will try to get TGA for beter darker fire color and then we will change the fire sequence to make some of those fire burst last for a little tiny bit longer.
We shall soon be unable to tell the difference from our sim and real guncam clips :lol:

Confusedhock: Confusedhock: Simply astonishing effect Confusedhock: Confusedhock: ! Now this glowing and intermitting fire seems so "real", just grabbed from a real footage. IMHO your work is amongst the very essentials eyecandy so far. Little touches like your's ,Avala's Plane Shine or Flushmeister's Clouds, Buffy's flak and so on...everyday make this sim many steps ahead!

This is a great mod but is it possible to make the smoke darker?
Changing the color doesnt help but maybe a new smoke file that is darker would work.

Big Grin What a nice mod, I am using "intermitent fire 20/12" and those black/red-out effects was something I was missing in il2 but now I got it.
THX HolyGrail....this mod is now a standard mod for me :lol:

Okay gents, I have made a shord videoclip about what I HOPE it will be possible to obtain with new fire+smoke effect , sorry it is really a very bad compilation in quality but I'm not a guru in filmaker, hope you can see what i intend about "fire leaving with smoke fx".. and hope a good modder will obtain this effect. regards.
