Another thing that has always bugged me @ FFB in this sim..
#1

Does anyone have a FFB joystick? I use a MSFFB2 as my flight stick... the X-45 is for my throttle & button bay.. I turn FFB OFF in the sim because if it is on and I Alt+Tab or Win Key out and come back in I loose my FFB... the FFB is still there but it is minimal.. and the stick tension is all but gone. Since I consider the stick tension to e more important than the FFB I just turn it off and when it is turned off in the sim whether you A+T or WK out or not the stick tension remains.. but then you loose the FFB goodies.. like the stall warning and the bullet strike.. (I never was a fan of the gunshake) ... Can anyone think of why that might be?

BC, I use a Logitech FFB stick,(Force 3DPro). I've never been very happy with the tension. In fact, I took it back to the shop thinking it was faulty, when they told me that's what it's like. It has a very low tension, so basically almost no 'centre' position. I find myself sometimes struggling to fly in a relatively straight line, with the elevators being the biggest problem. Changing the tension in the setup seems to make little/no difference.
If it gets too bad, I use another stick, one with no FFB...but then I miss the added immersion of the FFB. Smile

Had a LogiTech FFB earlier (I think it was the same one) and I was constantly frustrated with it. Every time I started to line up to land or plaster the enemy the control stick would go limp. Turns out that the stick has a IR reflective sensor to ensure you can't 'hurt' your hand if you're not white knuckling the bloody thing all the time.

Sensor opening (small rectangular cutout) is located on the right side of the stick. Taped a piece of aluminium foil to reflect the IR (no Tin Foil Hat jokes please) over the sensor opening - bingo! FFB all the time.

Hope this helps....

Yeah.. the fact that when you turn off FFB in the sim you dont loose your stick tension at all tells me that there is something with the way FFB is set up in the sim. When you do have it on and you AT or WIN out and comeback in the forces are there but they are only at @ 30%. My XO 99th_Patches was telling me that it didnt always do that. See i was never a fan of the gunshake so I always turned it off ad just used the tension, but when I wanted to give it shot again... that is what i found.. anyway pathes said that it wasnt always that way.. that it was one of the patches... maybe after 2.0 that that started to happen.

Hi,

some time I did that :

go in video modes

turn " attempt stencil buffer"

apply and a few seconds later you have FFB again

Have you ever had stick tension disappear when firing the guns?

WARNING: NOT POWERFUL PSU CAN MAKE YOUR FFB "GUMMY" because of lack of power, especially if you have many "USB" connection attached at your PC.

eh, while i've got Logitec Wingman FFB ( can't remember exact name) i had center tension disabled in joystick device setup , so in game tension would increase/decrease with speed and G force .... it was fun ride for few months and then it became so inaccurate that i tossed it and never looked back .

Donno if that helps...

Just bumping in to say that I have the same stick as Bearcat, and I'm experiencing the same thing and haven't found any remedy. I'm also running a nonstandard-IL2 resolution and plenty of other tweaks in conf.ini, so going to the graphics menu is a no-no. It has been this way as long as I remember.
