You know, I assume this is very simple. Can someone tell me what I can do here? Maybe an expert? Catahoulak9??

you need two reticle tga's as layers ... first will give you shining effect and second will give desired color ....

1 make two tga files for reticle : Reticle.tga and Reticle2.tga

2 mat file should look like this Reticle.mat :

[ClassInfo]
ClassName TMaterial
[General]
tfDoubleSide 0
tfShouldSort 0
tfDropShadow 0
tfGameTimer 1
[LightParams]
Ambient 0.0
Diffuse 0.0
Specular 0.0
SpecularPow 0
Shine 0.75
[Layer0]
TextureName Reticle2.tga
PaletteName
Frame 0.0
VisibleDistanceNear 0.0
VisibleDistanceFar 10000.0
TextureCoordScale 0.0 0.0 1.0 1.0
ColorScale 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0
AlphaTestVal 0.1 // of [0.1, 0.5, 0.9]
tfNoDegradation 1
tfWrapX 1
tfWrapY 1
tfMinLinear 1
tfMagLinear 1
tfMipMap 1
tfBlend 1
tfBlendAdd 1
tfTestA 1
tfTestZ 1
tfUpDateClear 0
tfModulate 1
tfNoTexture 0
tfAnimatePalette 0
tfAnimateSkippedFrames 0
tfNoWriteZ 0
[Layer1]
TextureName Reticle.tga
PaletteName
Frame 0.0
VisibleDistanceNear 0.0
VisibleDistanceFar 10000.0
TextureCoordScale 0.0 0.0 1.0 1.0
ColorScale 0.8 0.4 0.0 1.0 [color=orange]

Thanks Zo for replying, but I know that much Sad But I don't know how that color scale numbers thing works... what numbers do I need to insert to receive a red color?

Or better yet, how does the color scale work here?

i understand the numbers to be:-
red,green,blue,transparency

so 1.0 0.0 0.0 1.0

gets this

that what you're looking for?

Agree.....As I've seen many other actual Japanese gunsights with the classic yellow (it really a result of the lamp filament) making the sight bright enough more important then color as we're talking 60+ year old electronics. Even light bulbs having progressed dramatically since.

Its soo sad that their are not many vids/ pics around of the reticle crosshairs

I would really like to see some russians gunsights to compare them with oleg ones

Well, I've seen many reticles today that are also 60+ years old and they still put the yellow lights under them to preserve its "authenticity." I mean... I'm pretty sure they would have put a yellow light if they wanted to... after all, it looks like a museum, and therefore historically researched?? So maybe they know?

Just my opinion anyways.

the best place to ask would be www.j-aircraft.com for an accurate answer.

I've tried many combinations of reticle ColorScale and still haven't come close to getting the amber/yellow glow I think looks close to the original bulb filament color.
