I've read a number of times that the Ju-52 was sometimes used as a bomber, certainly during the Spanish Civil War. An adjustment for bombing was apparently done by putting someone in a 'dustbin' or hanging man-sized bucket underneath the fuselage, from where he could aim bombs or also shoot with a machine-gun.
Now the Ju-52 in the game can only carry paratroops, which is a very welcome option, but I was wondering, since it is historically correct, if it wouldn't be possible to do a mod for the Ju-52, adapting it for use as a bomber, with or even without adding a dustbin under the fuselage for the bombardier.
I know that the Ju-88 was given a new slot with the ability to launch torpedoes, so a new slot, or an mod to the existing Ju-52 allowing it to carry a (modest) bomb load shouldn't be violating any historical specifications to the plane itself.

Ju52 was used as a bomber during Spanish war, and Polish (bombing of Warsaw).
I know about One mod Ju 52 in own slot with bombs but I cant write link. :o

Just thought an image of the dustbin might be useful. I for one, can't even imagine what it must have been like to ride along in such a fragile looking contraption.

While on the topic of the Ju52 loadout, & with no intention of steering away from Agraciers post but rather to enhance it, how about having the option of the
5 cargo loadout to drop as front line re-supply the same as in the C47 ... been a pet wish of mine now for some time.
I build some unusual missions which include supplying friendlies behind enemy lines such as the LRDG using the DC3 with it's '5 Cargo' load ... it'd be nice to do the same for the Axis side as well.
Anyway, lets see if the Bomb/Cargo loadout idea temps one of you modder gents out there.

That is a great idea indeed. And it would really enhance usage of the Ju-52 in many different types of roles.
I love to use that plane in scenarios with other bombers which first, for instance bomb a front line area, and where then Ju-52's drop paratroops to take and hold the ground, or else stage a drop behind enemy lines. Adding a cargo drop capability would give even more scope to this rugged and dependable plane and allow for a nice variety of mission types.
And a lovely characteristic of the Ju-52 is that it can used in virtually any campaign, or any year - from the Spanish Civil War or the Chaco War, to Russia and to the last days of the war. And there are a vast amount of great skins for the plane as well, some captured, but all colorful and great looking.
I too hope sincerely that the modders get onto to these suggestions. It should be a seemingly simple mod.
And, with a good skin, it can be a good SM 81 substitute as well....

It's been a while since hearing anything on this proposed mod of the Ju-52 as a bomber.
From some of the above messages it looked like a mod for this was almost imminent and easily done. So just wondering if any progress is going on with this or if it's still in mind to get modded.
It would be a rather but welcome mod for the Ju-52.
