Agree Hawk, the Artillery is totaly wrong. I would also like to have artillery fiering correct distance.
Don`t see why this should be a problem to correct at all, since there are just search the historical data and put in the correct range.
Some here mention it would be a problem having artillery firing all over the maps. I dont think this should be a probleme since the Battleship allready do.

The problem can be that the range settings effect all artillery (same module) ? i dont know.
Another thing is that many of the maps are not in right scale 1/1 but some is 2/3.

sorry for the bad English
Plz not correct my typing

Id love to see that one in the game Magot so keep up the good work, and hopefully it will be aproved here on AAA.

In my opinion it would be more fun if we got some more artillery(check my spelling please) and other military objects to shoot at and bomb at then city houses and that kinda stuff. maybe this has to do with my mind of bombing shooting enemy military targets and not civilian houses??

A real u-boat bunker would have been sweet and even other bunkers and fortifications than in the stock game. here LAL and Canon have done a great deal and a splended job in my opinion. just to sad LAL didnt implement any guns also to the redone bunkers so they would accually shoot..

No!

It's good as it is because of the smaller scaled maps and also for the most missions made for current values.

well why not have it as a option for the bigger maps then like objects for 409 only. then you can choose if you want to have guns real range or guns short range for mini maps??
and as someone allready noticed. the ships allready shoot over the smaller maps anyway.

Rheinmetall responded with a new 88 mm L/71 design with a longer cartridge. It fired a 20.7-pound shell at a muzzle velocity of 3,280 ft/s (1000 m/s), giving it an effective ceiling of 11,300 m (37,000 feet) (maximum was 15,000 m, 48,000 ft). It also featured a lower silhouette on its turntable mounting

Wikipedia is dubious, at best, but even so this is still higher than the apparent maximum effective altitude of AAA pieces in game.

The flak isnt what im adressing but anyway.

In game
[Flak18_88mm]
Description German antiaircraft gun Flak 18, 88mm
Icon antiaircraft
AttackMaxHeight 10600.0 m

Wikipedia

the effective celing of the 88 mm(flak 18 )was about 7,900 m. check wikipedia

So as you see. the flak 18 in game is set to the maximum of what it was in real life for the 88 mm flak 18

The largest coastal guns in Norway where placed at Trondenes fort outside of Harstad named the Adolf canons.
these guns have a caliber of 40.6 cm and a range of 56000 m.
These gigantic canons was originally to be used on battleships but the new H and J class ships where never built.
Therefor the canons got placed on coastal forts in Norway. Poland and at the English chanel.
The canons/ artillery used at the coastal forts by the germans where taken from all over the concered europa and it must have been a logistick nightmare for the germans to get ammunition and spareparts for the guns as they widley differed in size and make.
Alot of the guns where guns taken from scattled ships or from ships never built or finnished. like the graf spier.
anyhow it seems like the range usually was between 15000 and 22000 meters for the coastal guns.
This i guess must have been more than enough as even if the battleships could shoot passed the horizon this had no use as they didnt have any means of seing where theire shells hit( no satelites, UAV in thoose days)
If they sendt ships closer to monitor where the sheels fell down the observing ships would have been in sight and therefor in range of the coastal guns.

If you or some one else make's this mod please do it so they are new objects and leave all default object values alone. If you don't and just edit the default object values, then you will completely mess up any missions and campaigns ever made as well as the game.

exactly my point.
or make it available for all people who want it - i don't.

Well, but some new artillery units would be nice too!
And not only Artillery but AAA too!

German Army had 8,8cm AA Guns, but also 10,5cm, 12,8 and 10,5cm twin guns!

New artillery will only be done by AAA if it is exactly that; new.

Modding the default artillery guns is something that would not be allowed on this site, as it alters the default game.

This thread is utterly pointless I'm sorry to say. If you want new artillery, go make it. Starting a vote will not get it done; no one will do it for you.

And its "realistic". no K.

I'm not against the idea of having artillery with realistic ranges, I'm against the idea of editing the artillery objects in game all ready to achieve this.

Reason being it could mess up missions and campaigns is because units / object could come into range of the guns that where not intended to be and therefore change or effect the out come in a different way then intended by the mission / campaign maker's.

Take the image below, It shows the default range (In Red) and real range (In Blue) of the M2A1 105mm Howitzer.

So say your mission is to protect the Japanese airfield from attacking aircraft and the mission maker has added an artillery barrage in the back ground as eye candy. The mission maker has made shore the artillery is out of range of the airfield so as not to interfere with your objective in any way, but if you have increased the range of the artillery it then brings the airfield into range of the artillery and interfering with your objective. So now not only do you have to put up with enemy aircraft but artillery as well.
