player has beed captured by the opposing force

this fixes the "player has beed captured by the opposing force" message to spell "been" correctly.

just extract to your Il2 sturmovik folder.

It's an easy edit if you'd rather do it yourself.

This makes me want to ask... Could we have a mod that would allow USAAF/RAF pilots to be 'rescued by the resistance' like in EAW ? Is this possible in the Il-2/FB engine ?

Cheers

I am aware of that, and I have had this fixed for myself for a long while, but I just ran across it again and decided that I might as well provide a convenient way for those who didn't know how to fix it.

It would be possible to have it say that, but to affect your score would be more complex

In "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\i18n\netmessages.properties" you could modify the "gore_captured" line "{0} has been captured by the enemy" to "{0} has been rescued by the Resistance."

Of course that would be a global change and happen every time "{0}" landed/parachuted behind enemy lines.

I've always liked the 'beed captured message, kinda like "all your bases are belong to us"

Why only the allied pilots? German Pilot Erich Hartmann landet behind the lines, was captured , but escaped from the russians, because he simulated heavy pain, so they didn

EAW did handle this nicely. If you bailed out over the enemy, you did not know if you would be captured or be helped back to friendly forces. In Il2, bailing out over enemy territory guarantees you will be captured. I expect EAW used an algorithm of some sort to determine the player's fate. My guess is that adding this to Il2 would require some code rewriting.

... i believe Dgen has similar feature , if bailing near front line you have 50/50 chances to get rescued ...not sure though

I can testify it has, but it's much less than 50% as i recall it, more like 30%, and the further you are from frontline, the lesser %.

in one of my campaigns I bailed out over enemy occupied france after my gladiator was clobbered by an E4, ended up landing about 40km behind enemy lines, but I wasn't captured.

I am assuming therefore it must be proximity to enemy front line markers

To be honest, I never noticed that it was misspelled.

I've know about this for awhile, but have never tried it until your post piqued my interest. THANK YOU

just last night I used the
user_cheating1 {0} is having connection problems
user_cheating2 {0} will soon be booted from the server
user_cheating3 {0} is all but gone from the server

to determine who in the squad was having problems, VERY useful.
