That is interesting... can you randomize it more... ? Like so that not every hit will flash.. but every two or every 3..?

It looks nice. I will try this and see for myself.
What we really need is a flash for API, incendiary or HE strikes, not for "ball" ammo. I can't tell if this is already done.

How come you say its 20mm cannon fire, when it is 0.50mm Browning gunfire (Spit IXe). You also have smoke trails from the gunfire and bright yellow submarine like tracers which are completely unrealistic? (thought no doubt better for aiming) Wouldn't the smoke be considered a cheat for aiming purposes, and completely unreal? Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but they don't leave smoke trails at least as far as I know. As I say, could be wrong.

Cheers.

He uses both machine guns and cannon. Were both redone?

Hi choctaw, yeah on closer examination it appears you are right, so hard to tell though with all the changes around these days, same colour, no "Hi-ex" explosion effect for the cannon, very difficult to tell apart on tertiary examination. Not sure I like it to be honest, but each to their own. Didn't know you could just change the colours willy nilly, though I suppose its easy to do if you know how. Does anyone know how realistic yellow tracer fire for brownings is on spits? The only gun cam colour footage of .50 cal tracers I have seen is from P-47's. I would prefer to have historical colours, and believe it was red on spits unless someone can tell me differently? Maybe others were used, not sure.

PS first new year post, and a belated happy one to you all! Smile

PS apologies for my mistake RE the brownings, it appears there are no smoke trails for them.

Did a few tests of this using aircraft that have 20mm only (Tempest, SpitVC(4), F4U-1C, etc.) ... and I must say I like it. The mod gives 20mm cannon hits on solid objects a nice (and short-lived) fiery splash much like I'd expect to see from an explosive shell. Hits on less solid objects (land, water) give a default-style hit with dust/water spouts... something I was afraid would also "splash" with this mod, but thankfully it doesn't.

If there's a down side to this, it's that the fiery explosion is -IMO- just a bit too large.

If/when there ever comes a time when the virtual pilot can specify his own ammo loadout (ie: what sort of rounds are loaded in the ammo belt

Change of heart!! I have just been trying them out and they look a LOT better than this YT vid shows (should have known better YT is crap lol), stating the obvious but try them first they are very good! I had also assumed it would change the colour of my red browning tracers, which it does not. They do look different on my rig, I have 3rdeyes mod installed and it goes well with it IMO.

Humble wrongness once more, forgive me lol, very nice work indeed and I am now using it...thanks Smile
