USAAF 1946 YP-84A
#1

I heard that people were making a P-80A 5-LO, a P-51H, and a P-47N. I was thinking that the service testing version of the Thunderjet would be a great addition to the game. Afterall, it had a top speed of 550mph @ 30000ft. This model was armed, had provisions for two wingtip 226 gallon tanks, and was natural metal. In testing against the P-80, it was found that the P-80 had better low altitude manuverbility and climb but the P-84 bested in in speed, high altitude performance, and range. The testing began on this plane in 1946. If we already have a Mig 9 and a Me 262 HG, why not the World's Fastest Tricycle. Besides, it fits into the era a whole lot better than the F-86. If someone could build this it would be greatly appreciated. Big Grin

Egh.... +.25 I always like the idea but i feel this plane is barely a useful addition (In a way) And the f-86 is supposed to be a part of the Korean war mod.

*Edit* I think ill take that back and Put a +.75 Because i do like "What if" Situations. And as i looked at it further it dosn't seem to be such a difficult Model to build.

I would do the model, but I'm already on a project right now, that will hopefully end up as a chain...

Anyhow, I think the YP-80 is seriously lacking loadouts, so this might be a good way to fix that...

I say do it, I love hi-alt Cold War scenarios.

I thought it would be useful for what-if Invasion of Japan, a heated Cold War, a start for those Korean guys because with a few stores and ribs in the pit you have a F-84B, and a good allied 1946 edition for the WWII people.

another good thing to have would be a b-36 peacemaker for cold war scenarios

True, same with a XB-35 incorporating more stable engines, but wouldn't super heavy bombers be very hard to create???

Are there a Korean war mod??
Good news!!!!!
But who make the Mig15 MOD?

I thought I saw that one was under production, or maybe that was just the F-86 or a Ta 183. However, I had thought that it would be best to start with the service prototype because that gives you the basics and it gives '46 people, like me, something accurate and American to fly against those pesky Migs and 183's over Europe or Japan. Then one could build the P-84B which was, my mistake, only different from the YP-84A by the use of the M3 Browning instead of the M2 and from there go onto the more reliable F-84D which was the start of the Thunderjet legacy in Korea...

I would love an F-84, or any version of the plane!

This is quite good requiests for aircraft, and can you post blueprint and more information for this aircraft? I am adding your reference materials to the aircraft requests library for allied what if aircraft at viewtopic.php?t=7790.

Chaotic, there are two blueprints and two references at the bottom of the first post. Just keep in mind that the first blueprint is for the late F-84G and isn't entirely accurate to this model but does give basic design for several things including tanks, dive brakes, etc. That is why there is another blueprint.

I know it really wouldn't fit in at all...

But I think it'd be by far the most awsome thing I've ever done in terms of sims to fly the XB-70... It's HUGE, It's nuclear, and it's supersonic, what more do you want?...

Mabye if we ever really make a lot of cold war stuff... but probobly it'd be AFTER BoB:SOW comes out by the time we get that far in the cold war :? , it'd still be awsome though.

Oh, Yeah, In the W.I.P. forums there's someone working on a F-86:

I would love to fly XB-70 too, to be honest wtih you, but its extremely impractical for IL-2 1946. There is no air to ground radar for guiding you to bomb the target beyond mach 3. I would say IL-2 1946 is perfect for both historical, experimental, and 'what if' AC from WW I to late 1950s. But that is my personal opinion, of course.
