Authentic Tu-4
#1

Why was this topic deleted?

BACK ON TOPIC: Do you guys think that it would be "easy" (and I use that term very lightly) making an authentic Tu-4? Instead of using the B-29 hack we could have one with the 23mm gunners that it had plus the Russian bombs on it... I hear it had a large payload as well...Now I am merely suggesting to do the Original Tu-4 with bombs...

Doing the Nuclear bomber Tu-4A, missile carrier Tu-4K, and Troop Carrier Tu-4D is all up to you guys... but i think making the original is at least a good start Smile

Since we also have a B-29 cockpit, we could probably replace the US instruments with Russian ones??

So what do you guys think? Good idea? Or too 'late war' ?

Sorry, that was my mistake, was trying to reply to it, but stuffed up..

Please restate your proposal

Soz...

At anyrate, my reply was; if the Avia guys are doing it, then cool. But it would be simple enough for the Tu-4A side of things... I have a mesh of the RDS-1 bomb I was working on somewhere...

I bet we can simply repaint the B29 cockpit into the Tu-4's, however, the armament I beleive requires Fm changes and thus a new plane.

it had a somewhat shorter range and lower top speed than the B29 due to increased thickness of almost all the aluminum sheeting, but I would also image it would therefor be somewhat more durable as a result

Tu-4 with guided missiles? Would go great on any Cold War Scenarios...

Umm.... that's exactly what I said in the first place...

As for guided missiles.... In my opinion, a big NO, UNLESS modders can develop some sort of working radar that can lock onto....

But then again I think that is already giong to far with THIS game, which is why i proposed original version only.

If the AI Code ever gets cracked, Fire-and-forget missiles could actually work in IL-2. They'd just be an airplane with an AI telling them to crash into the target aircraft. Then they could be carried like the Mistel Fw-190/Ju-88, or the TB-3 and the russian fighters...(don't actually know what aircarft it carries, but it can carry two...).

So that the Tu4 would work like the Fw-190 and the guided missile would work like the Ju-88 Mistel, and the missile would have the AI set to crash into the nearest ship in whatever direction it's pointing. Though this would all be in the far future, and be very, very, large amounts of effort...

BTW, I've never carried planes with the TB-3 before, does it release both at once or one at a time? We could even go into Vietnam and to Modern if it could drop one at a time. Though this would all be in the far, far future...

(Hehe, then use the AI airplane glitch to fly an AMRAAM missile...)

I think you're going way too far there now lol hahahah

Well to be honest, i don't like that idea, because by THAT time, guided missiles attacked what the pilot pointed it to (radar lock and what not)

i don't like the idea (and I'm sure most others don't either) of it just shooting at the nearest target... :? kinda isn't worth it if you ask me...

But once again, that is up to the guys...

That's really just an example, it could do anything. I can imagine that it could work exactly like real radar, set the AI to have a delay before it targets an aircraft, in that time it could show a HUD with a "tracking" tone and box, then X it out when the AI's targetting delay is over, and It's still in the circle, or FOV of the missile.

In short, I'm saying it could work like a real missile, but first we'd need to crack the AI code  .

Hmm... I remember a Long, long time ago having a dream about selecting an F-14 in QMB...
