QMB Plus- Map recognition
#1

I have been using the QMB plus for some time and have numerous maps listed along with their load.ini equivalents yet I regularly receive the "Wrong Target" message that is referred to so often in other posts. I try to keep abreast of all posts regarding this problem but nothing seems to turn it around. As an example I have two "none" missions for the Guadalcanal map and they load perfectly but when I loaded Easy Rider's Guadalcanal missions in the Quick folder they will only load with other maps. They are useful as templates but not with the map they are supposed to respond to. Another example is the MTO map which again I have missions for but no luck when it comes to a response. All of these maps are in my Full Mission Builder and they load but when it comes to the QMB they simply lead to frustration. Darwin, East Africa Lal Normandy, Centmed, are a few of the others that are problematic. I know the load.ini is correct because I have used some of these maps in Single Missions and Campaigns. Perhaps Sandman has some ideas--I know I am not the only one with this problem. :?

Thanks for this, I'll go over it in detail tomorrow. I don't know how I managed to load missions in my quick folder. I just couldn't get it around my head that I could load Guadalcanal quick and only have it recognize my Guadalcanal None quick--i.e. no airfield target for the strike simply a dogfight with all of my planes carrying ordinance for the strike.!!! Anyway I will look over your reply and modify my quick folder tomorrow. Thank you again.

Thanks for the detailed replies. I will try to be more specific about my problems. I know that I need missions in my Quick folder before a mission in my Quicks can be modified via the maps that have been added in the config file. That way simple missions can be varied up to approx 5 ways according to the mission variant chosen (strike, airfield etc) but only if you have such a mission for that map in you Quick folder. So here is the problem. I often have such missions yet when I try to call on them I get the infamous "Wrong target" message. Mbug Slovenia, LAL Normandy 44, Ardennes, Lvov are examples of this. The other problem involves a "load.ini/loading error" message. Again I have the maps plotted out but this happens with such maps as Darwin, Thailand (for which I have two "none" missions loaded--looking forward to yours) Sardegna and Zuti Slovenia. The last two have a full compliment of missions yet I get no farther than 23% load and the load.ini message appears. I have checked that I have the correct load.ini map path and the config settings but no matter what I do the result is the same. Magically my East Africa came of stream last night and given the number of other maps that do work I suppose I should be happy but this problem has become something of an obsession and sometimes I think I spend more time getting to the bottom of this than actually playing the game!! It just seems so arbitrary  PS I never us the Full Mission Builder so that leaves me with Sticky's wonderful creation but again that is limited by the maps that are included. Thanks again and thanks for having to read all of this

You are absolutely right about memory and it seems to be getting worse every day. First, I did load up the maps in the FMB and only one was a problem (I blew it away and reloaded so now all of the ones I care about are loadable.) Second, I not only have the "none" mission (Darwin would be an example) but it doesn't load.--This is particularly odd because I have taken missions out of my Darwin campaign and added them to single missions and in both cases they work perfectly. Also as I mentioned in my last post even when I have a complete set of missions (i.e. not just the none missions) they don't load--target error blah blah). Could you post a set of your map load.ini file so I can compare mine to yours. I'm also wondering if some maps (Zuti_Slovenia for example) have static.ini changes that prevent loading? I will use notebook to look into the missions also. Some time ago Paulo uploaded some that often had the wrong mission listed as I recall. I have dumped all of these but I was wondering, Is is possible to simple change that map notation in the notebook and have the mission work correctly?

Appreciate this. I'm flying out for a few days and when I get back I'll do some cross referencing with your files and mine. I'm still curious about my last question regarding changing the map reference in the notebook mission files. Would it have any effect? I'll be back in 4 or 5 days.
